Trying to conceive with PCOS may seem very difficult or even unattainable. Polycystic ovarian syndrome or PCOS is a condition that affects women who are at child-bearing age, and it can be diagnosed through blood tests, physical examinations, and a gynaecologic examination.

Women diagnosed with this syndrome often encounter difficulties in getting pregnant and have higher rates of miscarriages. These problems are primarily due to hormonal imbalances in the body caused by PCOS that creates chaos with the menstruation cycle and ovulation of women. Nonetheless, there are ways to conceive naturally with PCOS.

Women suffering from polycystic ovarian syndrome most likely are also having trouble with excess weight or sometimes even obesity. Moreover, PCOS also causes high levels of insulin in the body that may result to health complications during pregnancy.

This is why women who are having trouble with getting pregnant are advised to lose some fats and maintain a normal weight. According to the National Women's Health Information Centre, losing weight has a great impact in the restoration of hormonal balance in the body especially in the regulation of women's menstruation and ovulation.

By losing some weight, the level of insulin in the body can also be regulated that can help lessen the possibility of health complications like diabetes during pregnancy. Daily exercise of at least 30 minutes every day can be very effective in losing some weight. Other activities like running, walking, or even attending aerobics and Pilates lessons can be done to lose some excess fats. Moreover, doing these physical activities does not only help in reducing some weight but they also promote the overall health of body.

Getting pregnant naturally with PCOS can also be attained by following a healthy diet. Because of the hormonal imbalances caused by PCOS, there are some restrictions when choosing the food to eat. Women with PCOS who are trying to get pregnant must limit their consumption of foods that contain high level of carbohydrates and sugar like bread, pasta, potatoes, dairy products, and carbonated drinks.

Since, polycystic ovarian syndrome already causes high level of insulin in the body, additional sugar must be avoided as this may worsen hormonal imbalance, hence slimmer chance of getting pregnant.

Meanwhile, a PCOS friendly diet must include lean protein like fish and chicken, fresh vegetables, seeds, nuts, olive oil, and whole grain products. A high in fiber diet is also advised as fiber helps slow down digestion of sugar that prevents increase of insulin in the body.

Consumption of organic foods is also recommended for they contain fatty acids that do not contribute to the hormonal imbalances in the body. Furthermore, to improve chances of getting pregnant intake of coffee or products that contain caffeine should be limited as caffeine was found to cause high levels of estrogen in the body that affects ovulation of women.

Having a healthy lifestyle and quitting vices like smoking and use of recreational drugs can also lead to a successful pregnancy. Avoidance of these unhealthy practices improves the overall health of the body especially the environment of the uterus making it more viable for pregnancy. The chances of getting pregnant naturally with PCOS can also be improved by having a positive attitude towards life and proper stress management.
