Trump considers limited strike on Iran — WSJ

US President Donald Trump is considering launching a limited military strike against Iran to force Tehran to conclude a nuclear deal on American terms, according to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

“[Donald – ed.] Trump is considering the possibility of launching a limited military strike against Iran to force Tehran to accept his terms on the nuclear deal. This would be an initial pinpoint operation designed to increase pressure and push the Iranian authorities toward an agreement, but not escalate into a full-scale attack that could provoke a serious response,” the publication said.

The first strike, if approved, could be launched in the coming days. The attack will target several Iranian military or government facilities, informed sources told the publication.

“If Iran refuses to comply with Washington’s demand to stop enriching uranium, the US may move to a large-scale campaign against the infrastructure [of the republic’s leadership — ed.], up to and including a scenario involving its overthrow,” the WSJ added.

Earlier, Rafael Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, proposed several options to the United States and Iran for resolving the crisis surrounding the republic’s nuclear program.
