Richard Ayonade in the above Channel 4 programme here in the UK went to Lisbon , staying in a hotel in he described as being in the Afama district, but the "sound quality" and subtitles are useless to work out the name of the hotel. Looked a very nice place. Can anyone give me the name of the hotel. Thanks.
it may well have been hotel palacete chafariz d'el rei.

I'll watch anything if Richard Ayoade's in it. Travel Man is funny and often interesting!

After reading a few reviews I thought Richard would be funny. He was Really NOT! He gets famous people and comedians on the show with him to help offset his Bland personality. He even states in one of the shows that he 'has no facial expressions'. Which is true. He plays the 'straight guy' all the time and depends on the other person for the show to be interesting and hopes they will recognize his remarks as an attempt at humor. That said, I love travel shows and watches all 3 seasons. Most of them had interesting parts and it was nice to see the views although briefly. His main thing is to visit local area shops or take classes in something local, which takes up a good bit of the show and i'm sure a large chunk of one of the days on holiday. Originally I thought the show was to show that people can escape for a quick weekend trip affordably. But very quickly he switched to expensive helicopter rides and fancy upscale hotels.

love this show and glad it was added but lets get seasons 4 - 9 going!

I love this series. I'm an anglophile but never heard of Richard Ayoade. OMG some of the things he comes out with made me laugh out loud. His references can be obscure so they could fall flat for some. Having lived in the UK I just find this series delightful. His delivery of zingers is the ultimate straight man. He's also a film and music buff so some of the references he makes different era music and film stars are hilarious. Plus you get the added fun of a travel show all done in one weekend where he takes you to off the beaten track places and is completely honest in his reviews. He's also one of those people who is afraid of heights, gets travel sick and is risk averse. None of it appears staged. If you want to laugh and be entertained watch.

Richard Ayoade is hilarious! Plus the locations and points of interest never disappoint! I just wish Amazon would get the other seasons as 3 is definitely not enough. :)

I found this while contemplating my first post covid overseas trip. I have been completely enjoying Richard Ayoade's irreverent, slightly on the spectrum approach to travel. Looking at these episodes in a post brexit world still suffering from Covid, and now another war, its a fantasy trip. The buddy travel format, the minimal emphasis on cultural study, with a maximalist approach to fun and diversity is enchanting, even though I never travel this way. Totally addicted. Caveat - if you don't like british humor or accents, don't watch.

Richard is very quick, funny and hardly ever impressed. I'd love to see him and Carl Pilkington team up for the ultimate "I'm not enjoying this" travel show!

Not a travel show to plan an itinerary by, but points of interest nonetheless are visited. Mainly a vehicle for Richard Ayoade and his comedic guest du jour to showcase their humor. I'm going to guess a lot of people will be turned off by that (particularly his humor, which is dry as a bone), but I love it.
