Transsexual Stylist Raped Soon After Sex-Change Surgery in Moscow

The Moscow police are looking for perpetrators who sexually abused a stylist from Central Asia. The victim, a transsexual individual, arrived in Moscow for sex-change surgery and was abused soon after he became a woman.
A well-known transsexual stylist from the republic of Kyrgyzstan, who had a sex-change surgery in Moscow, was raped by his two country-fellows, Interfax reports with reference to a source from Moscow law-enforcement agencies.
"A 21-year-old female native of Kyrgyzstan came to police on Sunday. The woman claimed that she had been raped by two men. However, when the woman showed her passport, it turned out that she was actually a man," a police officer said.
"According to preliminary information, the victim, a well-known stylist from Kyrgyzstan, arrived in Moscow for sex-change operation and met two of his country-fellows at a Moscow restaurant," an official said.
The two men were glad to meet a lady from their native land in Moscow. They invited her to their apartment on Kuzminskaya Street. A bit later it turned out that the Kyrgyz individual, who looked like a female, was actually a male.
The perpetrators were not confused about the situation.
"One of the owners of the apartment committed an act of sexual intercourse with the stylist and gave his guest some cash for a cab afterwards," an official said.
Police officers also said that the transsexual individual went to the police because he took the offered cash as personal humiliation. In spite of such bizarre circumstances, the police filed a criminal case based on Article 131 of the Penal Code of the Russian Federation, "Rape."

Transgender people in Russia are fighting for acceptance in the wake of 2013’s anti-gay propaganda law, facing both bureaucratic and medical challenges according to an exposé in the Moscow Times .
At current, Russia classifies transgender people as mentally ill, and while there are plans for classifications to shift next year to match World Health Organization guidelines, questions remain if this will actually happen.
“The Russian bureaucratic machine is very slow and clumsy,” said Transgender Legal Defense Project lawyer Tatyana Glushkova to the Moscow Times . Glushkova doesn’t have confidence in the government actually making the change.
At current, transgender people in Russia need to receive a diagnosis from a psychiatrist before they can access hormone treatment. Many opt to self-medicate.
Complicating things for Russian transgender people is Putin’s “Gay Propaganda” law, passed in 2013, which prohibits actions that might be viewed as promoting homosexuality to minors. While the law itself has proven ineffective, it has served as fuel for anti-LGBTQ sentiment in the country, leading to an increase in hate crimes.
One transgender person interviewed by the Moscow Times , 20-year-old Harry, moved to Moscow to escape threats of violence in a town in Russia’s far east that he would not name. He felt he had no choice but to move to the capital city.
“Either death there or move here to Moscow,” said Harry. “In my native town, I had to act, to be someone else. Although I was wearing unisex clothes, I suffered from violence.”
He now lives in the only shelter for LGBTQ people in the country.
Another transgender Russian interviewed for the piece, Irma, is a 43-year-old trans woman who had fought with the government for seven years to get her documentation changes.
Even after she received her diagnosis, the Registry Office was unwilling to change her paperwork, only doing so after she had genital reassignment surgery — a move she did not seek.
“Transgender life in Russia — these words are incompatible in one sentence,” said Irma.
“The strategy worked,” White House MPX coordinator Dr. Demetre Daskalakis told LGBTQ Nation.
The scheme was to find discarded HIV pill bottles, fill them with fake meds, and reseal them before selling them to unsuspecting victims.
The positive effects of top surgery have been studied in trans adults before, but this study focused specifically on trans young people.
