Hey all I'm just going to keep this short as it's pretty simple. I'm a MTF and my partner is a FTM and we're quite the people in bed, anyway, my HRT is just about to start and I'm curious as to what medication is the best to keep erections? So I may discuss it with my endo. I'm aware I may lose interest when I'm on HRT, but I'm curious as to what medicine has a less effect on that.
From what I've heard you should stay away from high doses of Spironolactone since it lowers blood pressure along side blocking testosterone, so it's quite the boner killer.
Libido and erectile capacity will change on reduction of testosterone and increase of estrogen, but if you "exercise" regularly and keep your levels right it shouldn't be a problem.
I'm 3 months on HRT and I'm on transdermal estrogen and spironolactone, I don't have spontaneous erections during the day nor "morning wood" anymore, but I can still get hard from stimulus, it just takes a little more time to get there and maybe a little less strong than before, I blame that mostly on Spironolactone blood pressure reduction.
If your testosterone gets too low and it does become a problem getting erections, you can always try using testosterone gel, but this is something to consider only if it becomes necessary.
I don't think it has anything to do with blood pressure as mine is still 120/80 but my erection strength has dropped considerably. It is the loss of testosterone that weakens erections.
I'm trying to stay away from Spiro, I wanna opt for a different AA when I see my Endo if I can, or whatever he recommends for my situation.
I know that without the random boners and morning wood pain can occur so trying to self-maintain is gonna be important. At least I have some toys to help assist me in this.
I was on 25mg of Spiro and it was plenty to keep my T levels low with patches. I had no problems keeping erections, I have heard it's a use it or lose it thing so you will probably be fine.
You will see a little loss in size, firmness, and it will take more warming up to get you going though like any other girl.
Oh I want to go on patches since I hear they're better than pills. I mean foreplay is a must for any good intimate session so getting us worked up shouldn't be a problem, just as long as I can still get an erection that's mostly useable will do me just fine.
Viagra, or other boner pills. HRT-induced ED is still ED, and can be treated the same way.
Mmm I'm a bit cautious of Viagra and would like to stay away from it as much as I can.
I'd opt for trying to adjust my HRT to try and maintain some function and/or using some toys to assist in our sessions.
Ymmv. Even with identical cocktails one girl may lose the ability to have solid erections, where is another one may maintain the ability to be rock hard. I think our personal dysphoria plays into it a lot, but most definitely keeping it in working order requires exercise. That's one of the functions that morning wood did for most of us naturally before HRT
Yeah, I know asking others for options won't really do me too much good as we're all different and what worked for others won't always work for everyone else. Though trying to find a baseline on how things are going for others is really reassuring for me.
My erections waned quite a bit in the first few months but now at 1 year I could pretty much perform as before (it’s actually kind of annoying as I was hoping that bridge would be kinda burned for me and I could just roll with that)
Obviously there are a lot of variables from person to person but my experience was: during hormones adjusting-reduced performance, once hormones stabilized-business as usual more or less.
Hmm so I might expect low usage while my levels are trying to right themselves? I know it's a YMMV thing but waiting it out might work out as I wait for things to potentially work itself out.
YNMV of course, but at 1.5 years on spiro, fina, and buccal E I still have no trouble getting erections.
I take 25 mg of spiro twice a day, 2.5 mg of fina once a day, and 2 mg of E thrice a day. My levels are great, E is probably actually way too high.
While I do want and can get erections, I have a problem where they often hurt and can even cause me some damage to use. I'm seeing a urologist for it, he suspects pelvic floor weakness but I'm not so sure. I think atrophy from not getting spontaneous erections makes it not as able to stretch as it used to.
Yeah I'd believe that's atrophy from lack of use and rare erections, while I'm not expecting to completely avoid any atrophy, I'm hoping that as long as I maintain it often and give it some use I can try and avoid this from happening to me.
I'm on cypro 25mg and while i can still get erections they're nowhere as hard and very difficult to get and to maintain.
I kept using it 2 or 3 times a week so that didn't help for me.
Not saying your experience will be the same but just be careful maybe talk to the endo about what anti androgen you'll get
Cypro or Bica are the AAs I was looking at to get over anything else if I could, I hear more success in maintaining erections are easier for Bica than others but YMMV.
I was having trouble on 200mg of spiro keeping hard. I consulted my doctor and reduced the does to 100mg and I’m quite happy. My ‘T’ is higher now though, still bellow but higher. Remember that meds affect everyone differently.
Yeah they sure do, and like anyone else, I do hope that my meds will be kind to me haha.
200 spiro is quite high I'm glad to hear that reducing helped you out, I'm personally going to try and stay away from Spiro and try and opt for Cypro or Bica.

On the new episode of TLC’s “I Am Jazz,” transgender teenager Jazz Jennings can be seen preparing for the sexual reassignment surgery she underwent on June 30 of last year. In order to mark the occasion, she decides — with the help of her mother — to throw a “penis party.”
“I wanna do this party, because I want to have fun with the idea that Jazz is having surgery,” said Jazz’s mother, Jeanette. “This is not fun. There’s nothing fun about this, but laughter is the best medicine.”
Indeed, it’s hard to think of anything “fun” about having your genitalia surgically altered. But that doesn’t stop Jazz from going through with her irreversible plan, much to the dismay of her father, who isn’t exactly on board with having a party to celebrate the fact that his child is preparing to have their penis removed for good.
“I love making my dad uncomfortable and if this penis party is going to do just that, then we’ve gotta have a penis party,” Jazz says in a confessional.
In a trailer for her show released last month Jazz could be seen preparing for the operation which took place on 30 June 2018.
Leading up to the surgery Jazz saw a psychic who informed her that her spirit guides were warning her to wait a bit longer for the procedure.

Jazz’s surgery didn’t quite go according to plan, though. There was an unknown complication during operation, which led her doctor to call her “the most difficult case that I have encountered.” While it’s uncertain exactly what happened, as anyone can imagine, it can’t be easy to turn a penis into a vagina, especially after years and years of a patient like Jazz taking hormones which change the way their body would normally develop.
“This is a moment that I had always envisioned and just experiencing it was so surreal,” Jazz told ABC’s Nightline in October. “This is really the last thing that will validate my identity as a woman. There is nothing else after this.”
“There was just an unfortunate event and setback where things did come apart, and there was a complication,” she went on. “I had to come back in for another procedure, but it was just all part of the journey. The good thing though is that it was only cosmetic and external so it wasn’t too dramatic.”
Regardless of how you feel about the issues presented, the nonchalant nature with which Jazz and her mother treated her impending sexual reassignment surgery is concerning. Jazz may claim to feel “validated” as a woman now that she’s permanently done away with her manhood, but she admitted herself that such a procedure is “only cosmetic.”
