Tracker – Episode 16: 'The Silent Witness'

Previously on Tracker… After narrowly escaping an ambush in the mountains, ex-military tracker Jack Holt and investigative journalist Lena Reyes uncovered a conspiracy linking a powerful corporation to a series of illegal arms deals. But their only lead—a missing informant—has vanished without a trace.

The woods outside Blackridge, 2:47 AM

The rain poured relentlessly, turning the forest floor into a slippery maze of mud and fallen leaves. Jack Holt crouched low, his tactical flashlight cutting through the darkness as he examined a set of fresh boot prints.

'Military-grade tread,' he muttered, wiping rain from his face. 'They’re not even trying to hide their tracks.'

Lena shivered beside him, her breath visible in the cold air. 'If they have Eli, they won’t keep him alive for long. We have to move.'

A sudden rustle in the bushes made Jack snap his head up. His hand went to his sidearm—but it wasn’t an enemy. A scrawny German shepherd limped into view, its fur matted with dirt and blood.

'Easy, boy,' Jack said slowly, recognizing the dog instantly. 'This is Eli’s K-9 unit… Shadow.'

The dog whined, nudging Jack’s leg before turning back toward the trees, as if urging them to follow.

Lena’s eyes widened. 'He’s leading us somewhere.'

Jack hesitated—was this a trap? But Shadow’s desperate whimpers left no room for doubt. 'Move fast, stay sharp.'

Abandoned Sawmill – 3:12 AM

The dog led them to a decaying structure hidden deep in the woods. Inside, the scent of oil and rust hung heavy in the air. A faint groan echoed from the shadows.

'Eli!' Lena rushed forward, finding the informant slumped against a support beam, his wrists bound. Blood trickled from a gash on his forehead.

'Took you… long enough,' Eli coughed weakly.

Jack cut his restraints. 'Talk fast. Who took you?'

'Vogel’s men,' Eli gasped. 'They’re moving the shipment tonight. But there’s something bigger—a witness. Someone who can tie everything to the senator.'

'Where?' Jack demanded.

'Old rail yard… but you’ll never get in without—'

A gunshot cracked through the air. Shadow barked furiously as a masked figure appeared in the doorway.

Jack shoved Lena down as another shot shattered wood above their heads. 'We’re out of time!'
