Toyota Truck Dual Transfer Case Kits Toyota Dual Case Adapter Kits Installing a dual transfer case adapter in your Toyota will give you more ways to experience the outdoor lifestyle. These special adapters are also known as doublers because they add a second set of low-range gears to the existing range, giving you twice as many choices.
Another exclusive feature is the use of all nine transmission mounting bolts on both single and dual case installations. With our V6 adapter plate you can install the legendary Toyota gear driven transfer case (s) in your trail rig. These cases are known for their strength, reliability and configuration flexibility.
Toyota for some reason never stuck with one or the other, they for some strange reason mixed and match according to transmission. With that said one thing you have to remember is that ANY FORWARD SHIFT transfer case can be converted to a "Top Shift" it's not that hard at all. All you need are the correct shift rails, and a shifter, shifter base.

Trail-Gear Top Shift T-Case Conversion Kit for Toyota Pickup and 4Runner Need to convert a forward shift case to top shift? Trail-Gear have a great kit that will get the job done. Trail-Gear's kit is made with ALL new parts, and is already machined to accept a 4.7 input gear.
The t-case shifter will sit directly behind the the transmission shifter on the RC62F. That should make for a fairly simple rearward removal of the sheet metal in the tunnel. I suspect a double boot with surrounding plate from a 5 speed 95 - 04 generation truck or 4-Runner will work well here.
There are a multitude of Toyota tranny and t-case combinations. Most are interchangeable, and all are interchangeable with a few simple conversion parts. Let's start with the trannys. The first generation tranny was the "L" series. It was used from 1979 to 1983. The L43, which you do not want to use, was the first model and was a 4-speed used in 1979 and 1980. The next model was the L45. It is ...

Toyota calls for an esoteric Transfer oil LF for the 2nd gen Tundra and I might be doing a wallet flush on a friend's 2017 model truck. It's a 75W GL-4 oil, and the T-case is a Borg-Warner unit, not an Aisin unit found on a 4Runner/Land Cruiser or Lexus GX/LX. I know Ravenol makes a fluid that...

If you do need transmission parts, OEM Toyota transmission parts are always the best choice for your Toyota. Real Toyota transmission parts are made from quality materials that last as long as the original parts. OEM transmissions are an exact fit, so there is no need to ever modify the parts.
How full do you guys fill your Dual T-case with gear oil? Mine is Dual Marlin Case with 4.7 gear, W56 Tranny. I have ALWAYS. Filled mine by removing the shifter (crawler case) and removing the (overflow?) plug in the back, then start pouring in fluid until it overflows through that plug. This...
Sick of breaking tcase bits and really want to go Atlas but also want to retain manual tranny. Talked to AA yesterday and there's no way option to go from my R151 to 4 speed Atlas, but I remember something about using AX15 output on an R series tranny but can't find that info anymore. Anyone...

2002 Camry 4cyl with 155k miles. I have always done drain & fill with toyota type IV. I read that valvoline maxlife multi-vehicle ATF is compatible with type 4. Since I am doing drain & fill, is it OK for maxlife atf to mix with type 4? Anyone used maxlife on 02-04 Camry? Thanks

Here's a pic of my test-mule divorced toyota case ( still in progress in this pic). basically, you just cut the back end off of the toyota factory transmission-to-transfer case piece, and then fit the OE toyota splined coupling to 'whatever' driveshaft will match your transmission. the driveshaft section is a bit vague for the simple fact that ...
if you do a search to fill in the details, i know that the ax-15 transmission is the same as some toyota one and that the rear case can be swapped so you don't have to use an adapter to mate the ax-15 to toyota x-cases.
L52 toyota tranny and transfercase. was going to put in mine but found out mine is fine. completly pressure washed and the front of the tranny that is usually black is painted ford blue.

I thought that Toyota WS is compounded using standard petroleum-base oils, where Valvoline Maxlife is full synthetic. Technically, it should be OK to mix petro and synthetic lubricants (think 'synthetic blend' motor oil), but personally I don't.
86 TURBO TOYOTA TRANNY AND T-CASESthe tranny has about 130,000 on it when it was pulled and runs great. The transfer cases are both stock 21 spline. The 23 spline adapter will then make only one 21 spline. The 23 spline adapter is from Marlin himself. « Last Edit: Dec 31, 1969, 04:00:00 PM by 1056988800 » Report to moderator Logged

Then there are adapters to think about, the 465 will mate up to the chevy motor pretty easily, but the lowest price I've seen for the transmission to t-case adapter is about 500 dollars, and, chances are high you'd have to rebuild the trannie before mating it up (since many of the 465's have the 35-spline long output shafts).
im tryin to get my ax15 tranny put in TODAY. i couldnt get the fill plug off so i wasnt sure how much lube to put in. looked online and it says 3.25 qts. i only have 2 qts. syncromesh and that was last 2 qts. at autozone and they dont have anything else except royal purple for synthetic. can i...
Yup, the toyota transmission/xfer case combo is quite long compared to the stock setup. If you were putting this into a truck or wagon I'd think it would be no issue at all, but a CJ might be a tight squeeze with a very short rear drive shaft. Too bad, I just sold a tranny and xfer case combo from a 22r toyota.

Yes, the T-case uses gear oil. We're assuming your friend drained the T-case and not the tranny. Also, was it straight ATF or mixed because what beno was suggesting was that the seals between the tranny and T-case failed allowing ATF into the T-case. I know that you can use T-IV on the aws 55 50 in my volvo s60 03 2.4t and that it meets mobil 3309, but if I'm only draining a bottles worth of what I believe is the original transmission fluid from the car, and only adding in 1 bottle of new Toyota T-IV of the same amount I drained, would that cause problems when mixing it with the original fluid?
Toyota has a very expensive transfer case fluid that's like $80 a quart but most of what I've read points to the using the same gear oil in the transfer case as the diff.

My transmission holds about 8-10 liters, the drain plug removes around 4 liters. Any problem of doing a drain & fill with Amsoil ATF or should it be reserved for complete transmission flushes? It is said not to mix different brand engine oils, how about transmission fluids?

There may be some uncertainty about what kind of Toyota ATF to use, especially for older cars. Manuals from previous years will suggest transmission fluids that have been phased out, but there is no need to worry; Toyota has revised answers for this problem. Toyota ATF Type T-IV is the current version of discontinued types T, T-II, and T-III.
Toyota Transmission Interchange Chart Based on my research, it is 100% possible to swap any Toyota transmission with a random transmission! In that case, both transmissions need to share a similar alignment or dimension, engine size, and features for the swap to work.

For late model, 2001+ models Toyota, Lexus and Scion used two types of transmission fluids for their automatic and hybrid trans-axles, namely T-IV (Pronounced tee-four) and WS (short for World Standard). T-IV initially replaced Dexron III as the transmission fluid of choice for Toyota and Lexus automatics starting in the early 90s.

What was unusual about the setup was that the T-case had its own separate input shaft rather than having the output shaft of the tranny pass all the way through the t-case as is the case with A440F, H41 & H55F. The R151F output shaft is coupled to the split t-case input shaft with a splined sleeve that slided over both.
the toyota 5 spd (or any manual tranny) does not belong between a v-8 and a toy t-case. use a th350 (without a shift kit) for a cushion. google search will help you find what you need.

I have always been a fan of redline fluids, My 3rd gear synchro is a little rough and I am wondering what type of gear oil the toyota manual transmission likes. I am considering either Redline, Royal Purple, or the Dealership stuf. Im mainly looking for something that might slicken up the 3rd...
The Toyota WS is not. It is also compatible with WS and you will have zero issues mixing. There is also a video on YouTube where someone compared WS and Amsoil Transmission in a -45 degree flow test. The WS wouldn't flow at all, while the Amsoil did...actually quite well! I had the dealer do a drain and fill on my 2020 PRO using Amsoil at 25,000.
My brother's tcase (unknown if it is a 74 transition tranny/tcase or a 4speed tranny/with three speed guts tcase) pops out of 4wd when you are on the throttle. Supposedly, there is no binding or body issues with the shifter linkage. But it really seems like the shifter collar is not engaging the splines totally when in 4wd.
I say only switch if necessary. In the case of a maxlife that would be an attempt to solve slippage or some high mileage problem requiring a seal sweller. I've been doing drains only with T-IV and the transmission is perfect at 220k. I can't speak to other manufacturers, but Toyota fluid of any kind is excellent, one of the reasons they last so ...
