Ten "faecal incidents" in the past six months have cost the Mackay Regional Council up to $50,000 to clean up the pool.

Poor swimmer hygiene is being blamed for numerous closures at a popular north Queensland public swimming lagoon, while also leaving ratepayers with a hefty clean-up bill.
Mackay Regional Council has now launched a campaign to educate people on how to prevent what it's calling "Code Brown" incidents.
