Tommy Fleetwood Secures Dramatic Victory at the 2025 RBC Heritage

Hilton Head, South Carolina – April 13, 2025

In a thrilling final-round showdown, England’s Tommy Fleetwood claimed his long-awaited maiden PGA Tour victory at the RBC Heritage, edging out world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler in a dramatic playoff at Harbour Town Golf Links.

Fleetwood, known for his near-misses on the PGA Tour, finally broke through in spectacular fashion, sinking a 12-foot birdie putt on the second playoff hole to secure the iconic tartan jacket. The 34-year-old from Southport had previously recorded 11 top-10 finishes without a win on Tour, making this triumph all the sweeter.

'It’s hard to put into words what this means,' an emotional Fleetwood said afterward. 'I’ve had so many close calls, and to finally get it done here, in such a tough field, is just incredible.'

Fleetwood began the day two shots behind Scheffler but surged into contention with a bogey-free 65, including a clutch birdie on the 72nd hole to force the playoff. The two stars traded pars on the first extra hole before Fleetwood’s precision approach shot on the second playoff hole set up the winning putt.

Scheffler, who was seeking his fourth win of the season, graciously praised Fleetwood’s resilience. 'Tommy’s been knocking on the door for years—he earned this one,' Scheffler said.

The victory moves Fleetwood into the top 15 in the world rankings and solidifies his status as one of golf’s most popular and talented players. With the major championship season approaching, Fleetwood’s breakthrough could signal even bigger things to come.
