Tom Daley's boyfriend Dustin Lance Black spoke of his relief at finally addressing leaked sex pictures from his past as the couple made their red carpet debut last night (April 30).
The Oscar-winning Milk writer wrote an open letter last month after his former college rescinded a speech invitation over images released in 2009 of him having sex with an ex-boyfriend, saying that he "refused to be shamed".

"If you invade my privacy, this is what you will find," he wrote. "I have sex. It brings me joy, fosters intimacy and helps love grow...I am the victim of this 'scandal', not the perpetrator."
Speaking to Digital Spy after stepping out with Daley at the Battersea Power Station first annual party, Black said: "People have been so incredibly supportive.
"It was about time [I addressed the picture leak]. I always just sort of think it'll disappear, but it came up again.
"Cleve Jones, who's in Milk , is like a mentor to me, and he said, 'Girl, you need just to say it and let people know what's up', so I went ahead and did that. It was good to finally get it done."

Describing Daley as "the best", Black said of the Olympic diver's acting ambitions : "I think Tom can do whatever he sets his mind to."
On how he copes with a long distance relationship, the 39-year-old American explained: "I still split my time between here and Los Angeles. I really only have to show my face in LA so they don't think that I've died."
Daley, who beckoned Black into photos with affectionate calls of 'Lance', took time at the event to gush once again about their relationship, which he revealed in a YouTube video last December.
"It's been pretty crazy since the whole shebang happened, but it's been fun and everyone's been really supportive, so it's all been good," he said.
The pair were at the party to watch special performances by Sir Elton John and Tom Odell. The Hobbit 's Luke Evans , Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington, Grace Jones and Will Young were among the other celebrity guests.

Olympic diver Tom Daley is alleged to have had an 18-month affair with a male model while his fiance was working abroad.
Mr Daley, 22, is said to have exchanged sexually explicit messages with Edward William, 27, and is also accused of having 'physical' liaisons.
The Team GB athlete, who is engaged to 42-year-old American film director Dustin Lance Black, reportedly met his 6ft 6ins lover in the street and began chatting online in 2014.

A source told The Sun : 'Ed said the messages Tom sent would say things like, "I'm home and horny, can you come round?"
'Others would say, "Lance is away, are you going to be about?"
'Ed told them it was a purely physical relationship with not much emotion involved.
'He said Tom was very confident and forward with a huge sex drive.'
The newspaper reported that the pair would meet for coffees at Mr Daley's London flat and also attended.
Their relationship is also said to have become 'an open secret' among the local gay community.
Mr William and Mr Daley's affair ended in 2015 but they have been in touch as recently as this month.
Mr Daley previously confessed to having an online tryst with another man during a secret relationship break with Lance – and has promised to his fiancé that it ‘will never happen again’.

Footage of the diving ace stripping for online sex has emerged, prompting Tom to confess a number of online relationships to his fiancé.
Mr Daley admitted to being on a seven-month ‘break’ from his then boyfriend as the pair were tied up with demanding work commitments.
Last month, Mr Daley revealed that he knew he wanted to settle down with the 42-year-old film-maker just one week into their romance - and it only took a month of being together before they had the discussion.
'After the first week we’d been together, I just knew,' the Olympian told The Mirror . 'And ever since then it’s just felt like a waste of time not being married to Lance.'
When asked if he'd have seen himself getting married so young, he responded: 'Not at all. If you’d have told me five years ago I’d have been, "Pff, yeah, sure." But it just felt right. Within the first month we’d talked about it.'
As for their wedding plans, he added: 'It’s all going well, we’re looking at dates, but everything is staying under wraps at the moment.
'Who knows what it’s going to be like, I haven’t been to a wedding since I was five, so I have no idea. We just want to do what we like. We’ll just make it us.'

Private photos of Olympic swimmer Tom Daley were leaked this past week, showing him naked in bed. The photos were taken back in 2016 when Daley and his current husband, Dustin Lance Black were on a seven-month break.
This news comes only one year after an intimate video of Daley was released, forcing the swimmer to confess to Black about his online sex session. This video was also taken during the couple’s break, which was kept private from the media. Daley has explained that the various demands of a long-distance relationship led to the short-term split.
Regarding the photos that have recently resurfaced, a close friend of Daley told The Sun Online , “The pictures are old. From 2016, way before Tom and Lance were married. They are from a time where they split for a few months, which they have both talked about previously, but they reunited.” Daley also stated at the time of the video release, “It was the distance. It’s not like I actually met up with anyone. I’m 22 years old, and if you talk to someone through social media it is what it is. It was nothing more than that. We never physically met”.
When Daley spoke of his online escapades, he made it very clear that it is all in the past now. “This will absolutely never happen again … Lance and I had time apart then came back together, realizing we’re meant for each other. We’re soulmates.” Daley’s lawyers have issued a notice to website demanding the photographs be taken down.
Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black were married in May of 2017 at Bovey Castle in Devon, England which is a few miles outside of Daley’s hometown of Plymouth. In speaking about his marriage on his YouTube channel , Daley has said, “There’s something about married life that just changes the way that you think, the way that you feel, how secure you are, how just everyday life just seems to be a whole lot better.”

Tom Daley sent his fans into a frenzy with his latest eye-popping social media snap.
Posing up in his traditional work uniform - a tiny Speedo - the Olympic diver proved he's definitely the full package.
Striking a confidence pose, Tom stood with his arms behind his back as he stared down the lens.
And turned to the side, the picture highlighted all of his amazing physical features, from his chiselled jaw down to his rock hard abs and his erm ... generous downstairs region.
The 23-year-old, who is due to welcome a baby boy with husband Dustin Lance Black , 43, shared the snap to give followers of his sport an update on the World Series.
He said: "Successful week in [Canada] with @graceeereid Now on to [Russia] for the final leg of the World Series"
However, that's not really what people picked up on, with many way more interested in how well-endowed he is.

Tom and Dustin are expecting a baby boy via surrogate later this year.
And they recently celebrated by throwing a baby shower.
Tom shared a string of happy snaps on his Instagram stories, including one showing a huge table expertly covered in cupcakes, sandwiches and other sweet treats.
A second shots shows the loved-up pair posing in plastic gold glasses with 'Oh baby' written on them while they sip out of baby bottles.
They were also rocking 'Daddy to be' sashes over their outfits.
