My toddler’s current favourite vegetable is RAW ONION (just watched her take down 1/3 of an onion at lunch 🤢) so I don’t have high hopes for her being completely normal...
I came across a video from last year of son (19 months then) and I having a “conversation”.
His side was 99% babbling in his own little language.
A year ago he said a handful of actual words, used some signs, and did a lot of babbling.
Now at 2.5 he’s speaking in complete sentences, singing songs, saying words like “rhinoceros” and “stegosaurus.”
It’s kind of wild to see how far his language skills have come.
My little girl has managed to do all her number 2s in the potty for the last 11 days and this morning has managed both wee's in the potty with no prompts from us. I'm so proud of her and figured you guys would understand this excitement more than my Facebook friends 🤣
My 2 year old’s current favorite word is “no.” About 1/3 of the time he still goes along with whatever he is protesting, even while saying no. The other 2/3 of the time, it turns into choice giving. “It’s time to change your diaper” “no” becomes “do you want to change your diaper on the floor or on the changing pad?” That usually gets him to cooperate.
Tonight I asked him to help clean up before bed time. “No.” I was really exhausted and out of ideas and tired of negotiating no all evening.... so I gave him a choice. I asked him “do you want to clean up or do you want to clean up?”
“Clean up”... and he immediately started cleaning up. I hold no hope this will work often or long term, but for tonight, the illusion of choice worked for us!
