These are the 'too-short' shorts that caused administrators at a Montreal high school to kick student Lindsey Stocker off campus.
Stocker donned the jean shorts To Beaconsfield high school on the first hot day of the season, and was temporarily suspended when she refused to change.
The grade 11 girl is seen wearing the controversial shorts for the first time, in pictures published by the Montreal Gazette .
'Too short': These are the denim shorts that got Montreal teen Lindsey Stocker suspended from school
Stocker unwittingly started a revolution by refusing to change out of a pair of shorts, when she was told they were not appropriate for school on May 21.
She refused, and instead printed a poster that she plastered over the school, questioning why girls' bodies were the focus of the rules instead of boys' behavior.
During third period on that day, two vice principals entered her classroom and told everyone to stand up so their outfits could be inspected .
'And when they came to me after about two rows of looking they stopped and told me my shorts were too short and I had to change,' Stocker told the National Post .
Get shorty: Lindsey Stocker says she was humiliated in front of her class for wearing a pair of shorts on a hot day
'They continued to tell me would be suspended if I didn't start following the rules. When I told them I didn't understand why I had to change they told me that it doesn't matter - I don't have to understand the rules, I just have to comply by them.'
Stocker felt singled out and humiliated in front of her class, but what concerned her more was a set of rules that focused on girls' bodies rather than boys' behavior.
So instead of complying with the rules, she went and printed up about 20 posters and stuck them up all over the school.
The posters read, 'Don't humiliate her because she's wearing shorts. It's hot outside. Instead of shaming girls for their bodies, teach boys that girls are not sexual objects.'
Statement: Although Stocker's poster only remained up for about 10 minutes before teachers took it down, it had the desired effect
Support: Stocker has had strong support on social media and other girls at her high school are wearing shorts to school in solidarity
The posters were taken down by teachers after about 10 minutes, but they live on in social media.
Stocker also has won the support and admiration of other girls at school.
'Most people are agreeing with her, women shouldn’t have to cover themselves up completely because we shouldn’t be viewed as sexual objects,' student Sierra Drolet told CJAD News .
Lauren Paquay, 15, showed up wearing shorts in support of Stocker. She said the dress code verification - making girls stand up with their arms by their sides to ensure their outfits are fingertip length - is 'humiliating.'
School rules: The school district spokesperson says there are dress rules for both girls and boys
'People are being judged for the way they dress, they have to change because boys look at them. The boys should be the ones who have to learn to treat women better and look at them in a different light,' she told CBC .
The chairperson of the Lester B Pearson School Board told CJAD News that Stocker has been suspended for not following the rules.
'The rules are there to help the children learn and prepare them for their future work places, high school is a job for them, they are there to learn to function in society, so it’s important that the rules be followed,' Susanne Stein Day says.
'Girls and boys have rules on dress codes; it is not a girl, boy thing, that’s not the point.'
'I was in violation for showing my legs,' she says. 'And that, point blank, is a problem for me.'

She was his very glamorous plus one at the GQ Men of the Year Awards .
But Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho looked less than impressed to be on the red carpet with his 18-year-old daughter last night.
It may not be the wildest leap of the imagination to suggest that the Special One's displeasure was provoked by Matilde's extremely revealing outfit.
Low cut and supershort, the showstopping piece was a £2,145 velvet tuxedo dress by Balmain - a French label adored by the Kardashians among others.
Special night: Jose Mourinho and daughter Matilde certainly impressed the crowds at the GQ Men Of The Year Awards on Tuesday evening
Matilde is the eldest child of 52-year-old Mourinho and his wife Mathilde. She has a younger brother named José Mário Jr , 14.
She has already lived in Portugal, Italy and Spain as well as the UK and spent much of her childhood in Belgravia during her father's first stint at Chelsea.
Known as Tita to her family, she has become an increasingly familiar face on the London social circuit.
She is a close friend of One Direction star Niall Horan ad the pair sparked dating rumours when they were seen watching the football in the stands at Stamford Bridge with Horan earlier this year.
Stand-outs: The sports star is no stranger to the limelight and was clearly enjoying having all eyes on him and his daughter during the event
Bold move: Matlide, who is a long-term friend of One Direction singer Niall Horan, looked sensational in a striking ensemble, which drew attention to her lean and slender frame

Days later, she and the boyband singer were spotted leaving a nightclub together - and doing their very best to avoid the attentions of waiting photographers.
However, a representative for Horan later scotched the rumours, telling MailOnline: 'They're not dating, they're just friends.'
Mourinho who returned to Chelsea for a second time in June 2013, was at the GQ Awards to accept the Editor's Special Award recognising his many footballing achievements.
For all the attention, her father, who has made no secret of his staunch Catholic faith, has said he is happy to have his family back in Britain because of the extra privacy available.
Pulling quite the crowd: The Chelsea manager was amongst a host of famous faces present at the Royal Opera House in London's Covent Garden
Star-studded: The father and daughter joined the likes of Emilia Clarke and Lewis Hamilton as well as fellow models Jourdan Dunn and Amber Le Bon at the annual affair
He also revealed that his wife and daughter rule the roost in his home, telling the Big Issue Magazine that the two 'are the bosses and control everything in our house'.
'A good night for me is to have a nice dinner with my wife and son and daughter,' he added, in the same interview.
'Obviously, now [the children] are getting older and they are starting to have their lives and they have their friends also, so at this moment with school, football, university – we cannot be like before with lunch and dinner together every day.
All change: Mathilde, pictured in 2005 when she was nine, with her parents and brother on the pitch at Chelsea
All grown up: Mathilde, her brother José Mário Jr and their parents at last year's Hunger Games premiere
Daddy's girl: Mathilde with her parents at last December's Victoria's Secret fashion show in London
Sporty: The teenager leaves Queens Club after watching the action at the Aegon Championships in June
'So now is different, so a good night for me is to enjoy them and have a good meal and after that spend time with my family.'
Like his daughter, the famously stylish Mourinho had made an effort for the evening and cut a handsome figure in a tailored two-piece suit, teamed with a bow-tie and crisp white shirt.
The father and daughter duo were joined at the glitzy event by a host of household sporting names including British Formula One superstar Lewis Hamilton, Ashes hero Stuart Broad and former England legend-turned Match of the Day presenter, Gary Lineker.
Dapper: Not to be outdone in the styles stakes, the 52-year-old Jose cut a handsome figure in a tailored two-piece suit, teamed with a bow-tie and crisp white shirt
Finishing touches: With her golden-tinted tresses swept into a chic updo, the pretty brunette looked nothing short of glamorous in her racy style choice
Fancy that: The Portuguese - who is married to Matilde Faria - picked up the Editor's Special Award at the ceremony hosted by legendary actor Samuel L. Jackson
Time to celebrate: He looked delighted as he clutched his award
It's coming home: Claudia Winkleman was on hand to award Jose his Editor's Special gong
Family man: Matilde is one of Mourinho's two children, he also has a son called Jose Mario Jr.
Meanwhile... The former football’s daughter hit the headlines earlier this year when she was photographed partying with 1D’s Niall
Chilled vibes: Both Jose and Matilde looked happy as they hung backstage after the night's proceedings
Other sartorial winners on the night, held in association with Cîroc Vodka, included model Jourdan Dunn, who put on a jaw-dropping show when she took to the red carpet at the Royal Opera House in London.
Leaving very little to the imagination, the 25-year-old stunned in a metallic gown that did nothing to cover her back and left her showing off more than a little side-boob.
Working the cameras, the model struck several poses before making her way inside, to present the Breakthrough Solo Artist of the Year award to James Bay.
Jourdan was joined on the GQ red carpet by a string of big names, including Pixie Lott who was a complete knockout in a tiny black dress that showed off her legs.
The blonde beauty went all-out with her attire for the evening, working the unique asymmetric little black dress with panache.
Cut with a one-shoulder strap with a meandering pattern over a sheer panel, it allowed her to flaunt her shapely shoulders and arms.
