This year I’m happy to meet the dog days of summer lying on the beach.
The dog days of summer are the hottest days of summer. In ancient Rome, this was the name given to the period of heat, on the eve of which the star Sirius rose before the sun, usually at the end of July. Since Sirius is the nose of the constellation Canis Major, the expression “dies caniculares” appeared in Latin - “dog days”. By the way, the word “vacation” also comes from here.
