**RE-RELEASE with New & Revised Content** Are some truths worth risking your life for? What if it meant admitting your nightmares were real—and so were your delusions? Seventeen year-old Layla Labelle's hallucinations have driven her to the brink—and she isn't telling anyone. But when her dreams walk into her life in the form of Max MacLarnon, she is forced to rethink everything she thought she knew. Including whether or not Max actually exists. Learning the truth will mean fighting an arsenal of demons, and being with Max will put her on a path toward her own destruction. When Layla’s world erupts into a dangerous reality, and every fact of her life forsakes her, she must remember who, and what, she is if she's going to stay alive. In a world where nightmares walk the earth, an ancient curse lives in an age-old legend the supernatural aren’t prepared to reveal. Layla will have to uncover the secret her ancestors are hiding, and make the biggest decision of her life—embrace who she is and follow the one she loves into a world of deadly myth and legend, or turn her back on her history, her destiny, and her love. In TIED, Book One of The Fire Born Novels, what Layla and Max don't know could kill them both. And unless they can find a way to stop the curse—the truth might tear them apart forever. How far would you go ... to protect the one you love?

“No shadow remained. No one stood watching me. I had lost my mind”
First of all I would like to apologise to the author, because this review is not going to be pretty. Look away now. Okay, first the characters – I didn’t like any of them. Layla was so naïve, and took so long to work things out that I felt like tearing my hair out. You don’t remember Max? Hmm, well it’s not so much of a stretch to think that maybe your memories have been tampered with? Seeing as everybody but you remembers Max? No? Okay, let’s wait until the 64% mark to catch on then, and we can all act really surprised! How dumb are you Layla? Now, the storyline. Let’s see, we had faeries, gargoyles, ‘fire-born’ and all sorts of other paranormal creatures. We had a soul-mates thing going on, and a bit of a love-triangle, as well as a prophecy of sorts, and people being destined to kill other people. Unfortunately I just didn’t enjoy this story, I got bored pretty early on, and when certain people discovered that according to a prophecy they would end up killing each other, I just wanted them to get on with it. I don’t want to say anything else about this book, because I’ve most likely been mean enough, but I have to say that I am very pleased to have finished this. 4 out of 10

I really like the cover of Tired and that's what had me interested in the book right away. The synopsis sounded pretty good but the reviews were kind of mixed so I went into this book with a completely open mind. And I have mixed feelings about it. There were somethings like a really enjoyed about this book like the paranormal fantasy aspect of the story. It was pretty well written and the characters weren't super annoying. There were somethings like a really enjoyed about this book like the paranormal fantasy aspect of the story. It was pretty well written and the characters weren't super annoying. However, I don't like mystery and suspense that leaves me feeling confused so it was a struggle to get into the story. Right away, there's a lot of suspense and mystery and while I know a lot of people like that in a story, I'm not a big fan of it. It did take a long time before the main character and reader knew what was happening with all strange things that was happening to the main character. I'm also not a big fan of the in books. But again, I know some people like this. Not a lot happens in the first half of this book so I was almost speed reading to get to the main point of this book. Tied has a very "classic" YA vibe to it. It's not extremely original and it has the typical romance that's common in YA. Overall, this book just wasn't for me. It had a lot of things that I personally don't like in books and it wasn't quite original enough to completely keep my attention. But you like classic YA, a lot of suspense and mystery from page one, than Tied is probably a book you'd like. Review can also be seen at Bibilophile Gathering

I'll premise this review by stating that I'm not a huge YA / fae fan. This book, though, was pretty good. It's the story of a young woman who believes is losing her mind. Visions and dreams haunt her, convincing her she's insane. The depth of depressing of her plight actually drug on my own emotiols at times, placing me under a cloud even though I sat by a sun-glinting lake while reading. The depth of depressing of her plight actually drug on my own emotiols at times, placing me under a cloud even though I sat by a sun-glinting lake while reading. If an author is able to influence a readers emotions in such a way, they're doing their job! The lies and mystery surrounding Layla are what kept me turning the pages, and when truth and betrayal are revealed in the end, everything falls into place. While not exactly a satisfying ending, we're definitely ready to go to war, ready to fight with Layla to make things right. I'm a sucker for having my senses fulfilled while reading, and in this area Tied lacked for me. I want to live the story with the MC - see the 'movie' in motion within my mind. I want to taste what she does, feel what she does. The emotion was there without doubt, but I had problems envisioning and experiencing the surroundings of her world. If you're a YA and fae fan this is a must read. I'll definitely be waiting for book #2!!

When I started this book I had two phrases stuck in my head, dreams are real and paranormal romance. I'm not a big romance reader and was a little nervous about that phrase. I was completely wrong to worry. In a sense the story is about love, but no more than some other books I've read that are as far away from romance as Africa from Canada. (That's a terrible metaphor, but I'm sticking with it.) Tied really grabbed me about 20% in and never let go. When it was finally revealed what the story real

(That's a terrible metaphor, but I'm sticking with it.) Tied really grabbed me about 20% in and never let go. When it was finally revealed what the story really revolves around I became even more excited. I don't really want to ruin that for anyone else so I can't say what I liked, but it's definitely cool subject matter and world building. Guy or girl, I would recommend this book to anyone. It's a fun read that will keep you wondering from the beginning and leave you wanting more by the end. Only small complaint I have is a matter of tense and it wasn't even really a problem, it just took me a second to understand. The dream sequences are written in present tense, while the rest of the book is in past tense. It took me a couple pages to figure that out. But now that I've told you, you won't have the same problem so it's all good then, right? Right. Now, quit reading me and go read Laney.

I definitely loved the plot and the writing style. I finished this book within 24 hours!! The title is really catchy. The cover itself is amazing! After reading the book I was like 'what already? '. Okay, so the first bits of the story are not very easy to understand, but once you do, you'll have no problems. The book ended sadly with a cliffhanger. Some parts of the story are complicated, while I think that the protagonist, Layla's life is going to more complicated in the next book. Laney McMan

There are loads of emotions in the story and McMann has written them beautifully. My heart was crying at the end of the story, as I didn't wanted Layla's sacrifice to go in vain, but the rest will be revealed in the next book of this trilogy. I wanted the character of Layla's mother more. I also wanted Benny involved too. Sam is the character I hated the most, as he came out to be a traitor. I loved the tied bond between Layla and Max. Don't hesitate and grab this must-read!! I recommend this series to all YA fantasy readers. Laney McMann is going to release the third book of the trilogy, and I am damn excited to read the second book, Torn. I guess Laney McMann is officially in my list of favourite authors!

(I received a copy from Netgalley, In exchange for an honest review.) The characters in this all annoyed me at one point or another, so I didn't like any of them. Layla was definately the worst one out the bunch though! This couldn't hold my interest at all unfortunately. It bored me quite early on, and my boredom got worse and worse as the story progressed. Really glad to be finished with it now! Overall, Not a read I enjoyed.

"From the ashes of old, They shall rise. The last of the Ancients, Foe and Ally. The Legend lies in wait, And bides its time. Until at last the day comes, For the children born of fire." Layla Labelle feels like she is losing her mind. Haunted by dreams, or are they actually memories? Layla's not really sure. All she knows is that Max, the boy who plays a big part in these visions, seems to be real. The feelings she has for him sure seem to be real. But there are plenty of things being kept from Layla. Lies and betrayal. How will she feel once the truths start to surface? I found Tied to be a little bit disjointed to start with. I wasn't quite catching on to what everything was meaning and I felt just as Layla did, a little confused and left in the dark. But then at around the twenty five percent mark, things started becoming clearer to me and I was able to settle in and really enjoy the book from then on out. There are plenty of paranormal elements and beings throughout the story to really keep things interesting. As well as switching between worlds we get quite a few looks into the past to get a better understanding of what has lead things to be the way that they are in the present. There is also lots of action throughout the book and there really isn't ever a dull moment. The romance between Layla and Max was sweet, and loving. Somewhat forbidden but unable to fight the pull and attraction they feel towards each other. Each of them will do whatever it takes to protect the other. The supporting characters I felt where just that. While they impact on the story all to varying degrees, I felt that I didn't really get to know them all very well. Benny is probably the one that we get the most insight too. She is Layla's best friend but I have to say that I didn't really feel it. Layla seemed to be always trying to avoid her or getting cranky with her for her concern. The title of the book really fits the story perfectly. I can't really say more than that without giving away a good portion of the plot, but I really loved how it all tied in together. Overall I found Tied to be well written and the pace of things really picked up as we got more involved with the story. We are left with quite a bit of a cliffhanger but the scene is set for plenty of action in the next book. And I for one am looking forward to it!! Many thanks to Laney McMann and J. Taylor Publishing for the opportunity to read and review Tied.

I loved everything about this book! From the cover to the story to the romance –seriously everything. I will admit that the awesome cover is what first drew me to Tied and it did not disappoint. I don't think I have ever read a book with so many plot twists in it but was still able to keep my attention without confusing me. Layla has always been a bit of an insomniac but when her "dream" start happening in the middle of the day things get weird. What she thought were dreams or visions, is actually her life in a different realm. The Max that she grew up with in her dreams that disappeared and never came back years ago– is now back but in real life. Her love for him is stronger that ever and even though her mother forbade her from seeing him, she can't help it. Then she learns of her past and what her, and Max's futures hold. Can they risk their lives and their entire world by staying together? I loved all the magical creatures that were in this book, it really took me by surprise. Laney McMann did an excellent job creating a world that I want to be apart of. Can I be a fire born too? Pretty please! I loved so many of the characters and hated a bunch too. That's how you know it's a good book. Layla and Benny had such a cute friendship. You can tell they had been friends their entire lives b
