Three Questions Behind a Vanishing-Corpse Mystery

When a detective story says a corpse vanished, the sentence contains several claims that should be tested separately.
Was the person correctly identified? Was the body continuously present? Is the disappearance time actually known?
Question one: identity
Who confirmed the dead person's identity, and how?
A face, clothing, paperwork, a witness, or an expected location may feel conclusive while proving different things. A fair-play mystery tells readers which identification method was used, even if its importance is easy to miss.
Question two: movement
What would have to move, and through which boundary?
The problem may involve a whole body, a container, a trolley, a vehicle, or a change in what observers believed they were guarding. Measure the physical claim against doors, routes, weight, noise, weather, and available time.
Question three: timing
When was the body last independently confirmed?
The moment of death, transport, storage, final observation, and reported discovery are not automatically the same timeline. A long unexamined interval can hide inside a confidently stated short one.
Keep the questions separate
A strong theory should answer identity, movement, and timing together.
Solving only one produces an incomplete explanation. A body-swap theory still needs opportunity. A secret-route theory still needs correct identification. A timeline theory still has to account for physical conditions.
Why the puzzle feels impossible
Readers naturally compress the claims into one image: a known corpse, certainly inside, suddenly gone from a sealed place.
The detective's job is to unpack that image into testable statements.
