Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.
However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and works while you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And, if you need to, you can swap the mopping pad to a dry one in seconds.

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming it, something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears much like a Roomba unit than the boxy units of the rivals. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has a simple mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work, or in the evening when you're trying to sleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. If you're willing with a little more noise and a little more cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. robot vacuum hoover has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't foolproof in our testing and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner comes with a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. Finally, a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might think from its price. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that can be washed.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to create an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It features an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana.
