What is Evolution?

Some early evolutionists, including Jean Baptiste de Lamarck and Erasmus Darwin (Charles's grandfather), believed that existing species changed into other species in a planned manner. The term"transmutation" was coined by the Lamarck's disciple embryologist Etienne Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire, to describe this notion. Charles Lyell, in his Principles of Geology, published in 1833, attacked the idea of evolution and borrowed the term from Geoffroy’s student.
Recently evolutionary biologists have defined evolution as a process that occurs when living organisms develop traits that enhance their chances of survival or the ability to produce offspring. Over time, genetic variability can lead a population to develop new physical characteristics or biological functions. Natural selection is the main force behind the majority of evolutionary changes. However, non-genetic changes such as the increase in the muscle mass as a result of diet or exercise can't be considered to be examples of evolution since they are not inherited by future generations.
Despite the fact that evolution has stood the test of time and a multitude of scientific studies, creationists have seized on the idea that the theory is controversial and argue that it shouldn't be taught in schools. In South Korea, a group called the Society for Textbook Revise (STR) which is an offshoot from the Korea Association for Creation Research is pushing for the removal of textbook content about the evolution of horses as well as the avian ancestor Archaeopteryx.
It is crucial to keep in mind that the evidence in favor of evolution is overwhelming. The evidence comes from a diverse variety of sources, including fossils, genetic studies and the behavior of living organisms. The evidence is also independently verified by other scientists.

What is Creationism?

Although Creationists may not all be Christian however, they are a majority. Creationists are usually divided into two categories: Young Earth Creationists (YEC) or old earth creationists.
The YECs are perhaps the most well known type of creationist, and they believe that God created the universe in the exact way described in the Bible. They believe that the biblical account of the six days of creation was literal and that the universe as well as life on Earth were created just recently.
OECs might not be as well-known However, their beliefs are as fierce as those of YECs. OECs believe that the universe and all life on Earth are billions of years old and they believe that evolution is an untruth.
Both forms of creationism deny that scientific theories such as natural selection and abiogenesis are able to explain the origins of life on Earth. They argue that evolution is impossible, because it would require miracles. The founders of modern scientific thought resisted miracles in fear that they might lose their credibility.
Some creationists accept naturalistic evolution and also special creation. These creationists believe that the original species were created simultaneously, and that they developed gradually afterward. They reject the concept of abiogenesis and assert that self-replicating life cannot arise from non-living matter.
In general, creationists are against teaching evolution in schools. This is a position that is backed by a variety of professional organizations, including the National Science Teachers Association, the Association for Science Teacher Education, the American Anthropological Association, and the Geological Society of America. Some scientists and educational institutions are however more flexible and permit both evolution and creationism to be incorporated into their curricula.
What is Creationism?
When people think of the concept of creationism typically think of the United States. South Korea also has an anti-evolutionist group. Publishers of high school textbooks have recently announced that they will remove references to evolution from their editions. The Society for Textbook Revise, an independent body which is an offshoot of the Korea Association for Creation Research (KACCR) has been the driving force behind this campaign. STR has secured its first victory by taking away instances of the evolution of the horse and an avian ancestor called the Archeopteryx from textbooks. Its next target is to eliminate excerpts from Darwin’s infamous finch-research as well as on human evolution.
STR claims to have the support of 4,000 families and individuals. Its mission, it states, is to rid the world of what it calls "atheist materialism" which portrays an image of students as being negative. It also seeks to counter the influence of American Creationists in the nation. A survey of undergraduates studying biology revealed that a majority of them did not believe evolution. The causes are not clear, but could include religion or the absence of creation scientists in the US.
The KACR accomplished a number of things through its lectures and seminars in the past. It has a bimonthly news magazine, Creation, and has published books. One of them was an educational textbook on natural sciences with a creationist stance. It sparked interest in the college community. In 1991, a professor and minister started teaching Creation Science in one university, and it continues to be taught until today.
On August 6-7 1993, KACR hosted a second International Symposium on Creation Research. This was held in conjunction with the opening of the World Expo in Daejeon. Six lecturers from abroad including ICR's John Morris and Steven Austin, spoke to a crowd of more than a thousand. KACR members and KACR have also given talks on creation science in major seminaries. KACR is planning to create a Creation Science Education Center.
