This Is The Advanced Guide To Stroller All Terrain
Best All Terrain Stroller
If you like to go for an exercise, hike on rocky trails or stroll through parks with grass, then an all terrain stroller is the perfect option. You'll need large, sturdy tires with suspension that can handle the rough terrain.
All terrain strollers are designed to help you inspire a love of the outdoors in your child at an early age. We evaluate the ease of use and maneuverability, including the ability to quickly access the basket and engage the brakes, then insert and remove the infant seat (where applicable).
The Best Overall Stroller
If you intend to utilize a stroller for transporting your child for many years it should be able to be more than just a means of getting them from A to B. Strollers grow faster than rabbits. Investing in a stroller that can handle all your family's outings is a wise investment.
The Nuna MIXX Next can do all of that and more. It can be used from birth, thanks to a newborn-friendly flat recline. It also features a compact fold to make it easy to store and can roll effortlessly over grass, sidewalks and cobblestone. The lightweight PIPA Urbn car seat is also available as a bundle for a complete travel solution. It's more expensive than our other picks but our test subject said it was worth it because it's tough and can withstand even the most strenuous trips.
Three-wheelers are a great choice for strollers that are lightweight but can handle more rough terrain. The Thule Shine was a past winner of this category. It's a little more expensive than our other options however, it's a solid choice and has plenty of features (car seat compatibility! dual cup holders!) This makes it a great purchase. It can also be folded down to fit in the overhead bins of airplanes making it an ideal choice for families that frequently travel.
Senior Review Editor Wendy Schmitz has been reviewing strollers and other baby gear for over two years. She and the rest of our product testing team evaluate each stroller by running, pushing, folding and lifting them to assess their performance, comfort and functionality. All of them are moms and are aware of the importance of a quality stroller for daily use and family outings. This year we grew our testing pool to include five parenting experts as well as stroller experts. These included Lisa Trofe (executive director of the Juvenile Product Manufacturers Association), Kyleyn Gosewisch (customer care specialist at strolleria), Marielle Marquez (pediatric occupational therapist), Holly Choi (cofounder and coowner of Safe Beginnings First Aid), Holly Choi and Sarah Huff.
The BOB Sport Utility
The BOB Sport utility is a great stroller to use if you want to get off the beaten track and exercise. The jogging stroller has pneumatic knobby tires that are perfect for trail runs and hand brakes that let you control the downhills. It also features a state-of the-art suspension system and a two-step folding design and a massive cargo basket. If you purchase the right adapters you can use it with the child car seat.
This jogging stroller's biggest flaw is its weight and fold dimensions. It weighs 25lbs and folds down to 17,850 cubic inches, which is the average for this group of strollers. Its large footprint makes it unsuitable for tight turns or small trunk space. However, it has small handles on the back of the storage bin that can be pulled to collapse the stroller into a compact, flat position.
Despite its bulk, this stroller remains easy to maneuver. Its front wheel has a locking mechanism that lets you switch it between normal and locked running mode, and the handlebar is adjustable in height for different heights of parents. It also has a wide seat that can recline almost completely flat, and it has a large vinyl peek-a-boo window that is easy to open and close.
Another big plus is the Sport Utility's remarkable quality that earned it a 9 of 10 in this metric. It has a strong frame made of aluminum, with tight connections, no rough edges and no sloppy stitching. It also has adjustable shocks which helps with the smooth-rolling performance.
Like the other BOB strollers reviewed in this review, the Sport Utility has optional car seat adapters that let you use it with different infant car seats. It took us 5 hours and 24 minutes in our tests to assemble the stroller, from unpacking it until it was ready to go. It was easy enough to complete, but you'll require an Philips head screwdriver to complete the process. The instruction manual is well-organized and clear but it's a good idea just to have one in case.
The Baby Trend Expedition
This jogger has been built with safety, fashion and user-friendliness as its main priorities. It has a tray for parents that has two cup holders as well as covered storage, and an infant tray that swings away and has two cup holders. The adjustable canopy, with its peek-aboo windows and extra-wide ergonomically-shaped handle, provides comfort for both parents. compact all terrain stroller can be locked when strolling and locked for running. The large storage basket can hold essential travel items.
In the Strollers test program from Consumer Reports, the Baby Trend Expedition Jogger does well in general for the price and is rated higher than many of its competitors in several categories. The 5-point harness, folding, unfolding and adjusting backrests and engaging brakes on the wheel and infant car seat installation and removal (only compatible models) are all included. It's designed to have an easy recline with one hand, that is sufficient for naps. However the canopy cover, which ratchets, isn't easy to secure. It takes about 8 minutes to set up and the instructions are confusing due to multiple languages mixed together and difficult-to-read illustrations.

The only downside to this stroller is that it doesn't have suspension, which means the ride could be more bumpy than other strollers that we've tested. This can cause discomfort for toddlers, especially when they're on the edge of taking napping. It does have tires that are filled with air but they don't have the same amount of shock absorption as the rubber wheels you find on strollers that are more expensive.
This is a great option for those who don't intend to run frequently but would like to walk over gravel and grass without difficulty and without problems with curbs, or other obstacles. It is an excellent choice for families with little space, since it folds down into a compact unit. It's lighter than many of the other joggers that we've tested, and will fit into places where large strollers aren't able to.
Another benefit is that it is easier to lift and carry than the larger joggers we've tested. This can be crucial if you need to lift it into and out of the trunk of your vehicle regularly or if you're constantly traveling.
The Nipper Sport V4
If you're looking for the top jogger for any terrain and conditions, look no further than the Nipper Sport V4. This latest version of Out 'n' Around's 3-wheeled stroller designed specifically for jogging and comes with big 16'' pneumatic alloy tyres designed to take on even the most difficult trails and tracks. The Nipper is light and compact which makes it easy to transport and fold.
This pushchair has a number of characteristics that make it perfect for all kinds of terrain, including front suspension and a brake for the handlebar. It also has a recline seat that can be adjusted in multiple positions and a removable quilted seat liner, along with the five-point safety harness and hinged bumper bar. It also works with travel systems, so you can use it with the Cybex Maxi-Cosi or BeSafe baby car seat.
The buggy also has a large front wheel which ensures an enjoyable ride for the child. This is particularly important when tackling difficult terrain, as it allows the buggy to track better and glide better over bumps and dips. In addition the Nipper Sport is also very easy to drive. The handlebar features an ergonomic design and a single-pedal easy-lock brake with a variable steering. The buggy folds very easily, thanks to the clear instructions and photos in the user's guide.
The Nipper Sport is suitable for children who are older than of six months. It can be used with a newborn thanks to its infant insert built-in. However, it's not recommended for use with babies less than six months old because the harness of the seat isn't tight enough to safely keep them.
This pushchair also lacks a storage basket under the seat. It does have a small grocery pouch at the back of the seat, but it won't be large enough to accommodate an enormous changing bag. It is extremely easy to unfold and close, with just two hands required to release the plastic catches that are on either side of the lower frame. The red handlebar is equipped with an additional lock that can be opened using just one hand.
