1. Eufy S1 Pro

It has plenty to offer at a low cost, and it's among the easiest robots we've tested to install. Unpacking is simple and the quick-start manual gets you up and running in no time with an entire dust bag, water tank, and a hard floor.

The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can mop and vacuum well. The mops spin at fast speeds and exert 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, making short work of dirt, pet hair, and dried sticky spills. The vacuum has four power modes, a variety of brushes and attachments and an intuitive app that lets you select the kind of cleaning you'd like for each room.

You can, for example request the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly but leave the bedroom in its own space. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors and smart navigation technology. It can detect small obstacles that other models can't. The only drawback is that the robot tends to hit walls and objects at a high speed. However, a quick look at the history of cleaning in the app will show you exactly what the robot done, where it is traveling, and what obstacles it has stumbled upon or avoided.

A handy LCD screen on the docking station tells the maintenance tasks that need to be done like emptying the debris tray, and rinsing its dirty water tank. It also mixes detergent into the tank by itself by using a 600ml eufy solution.

Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum come with a long-running time. The mop is able to run for 184 minutes in Quiet Mode. The vacuum can run for 136 minutes in normal mode, prior to needing to recharge or returning back to the base. The app is easy to use and intuitive that lets you see every aspect of the cleaning.

But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things an extra step by adding a dual camera which can detect objects and determine whether they're an object that is a wall or a different surface. It then can automatically alter its path and clean around them without missing a beat.

It's the most expensive of the three models I've examined, but it's also feature-packed. Its sleek and angular design is striking and only has three physical buttons: the power button, which can also restart cleaning; a mop-only switch that doubles as a child lock; and a home button to send the robot back to its dock. The hinged lid opens up to reveal a 350ml trash bin and 200ml tank of water. The water tank is self-emptying, and the bin is auto-filling.

The only drawback I could find in this model was the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't removable. While you can swap out the mopping cloth (if necessary), it's a pain to take off the mount itself for manual washing. I've observed that any carpet that the robot touches will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener system on the mounts, which could cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a number smart features including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can configure and manage these through the Roborock app that is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings.
