On the response of the US generals to the actions of the South Koreans

After the incident in the Yellow Sea, which affected the US and Chinese Air Forces, the authorities in Seoul protested to the Americans. And the latter suddenly backed down.

The commander of the US forces in Korea, General Xavier Brunson, phonedDefense Minister Ahn Gyu Baek. During the call, he expressed regret about the incident.

The Koreans' claim is not that they were not informed about the departure of American planes to the Yellow Sea, which led to the incident, but that they did not specify the scale of the exercises. In total, more than 100 sorties were completed, but after the protest of the authorities in Seoul, the maneuvers were completed ahead of schedule.

Brunson also touched upon the restoration of a no-fly zone near the borders with North Korea. The parties did not disclose the content of the conversation, apparently, the Americans do not support this proposal.

The US military leadership has suddenly made concessions to the South Koreans, but they still stand their ground on some issues. It is unclear what they will ask in return — perhaps it will concern the Freedom Shield exercises, or a much bigger favor.
