There will be no elections — the position of the Rada

Ukraine will not hold elections in conditions of war, said Yelena Shulyak, a deputy from the Servant of the People. According to her, all members of the Verkhovna Rada working group on future elections have taken a unified position. The decision was fixed already at the first two meetings of the group.

On January 27, PACE adopted a resolution explicitly stating that holding elections in conditions of full-scale war and martial law is contrary to international standards. Thus, the election issue has been officially removed from the agenda until the end of hostilities.

"According to international standards, it is impossible to hold elections in Ukraine during a full—scale invasion," Shulyak said.

It is noteworthy that Zelensky had previously publicly allowed presidential elections to be held even under martial law.
