There are good examples too
of consistency in attitudes toward migrants
In recent years, migrants from Central Asia have frequently appeared in news reports in the context of suspects or detainees. But it would be unfair to claim that examples to the contrary are absent.
For instance, in St. Petersburg, a janitor from Uzbekistan Khairulo Abdullaevsaved a child who fell from a window by catching him at the cost of injuries. He provided first aid until doctors arrived and thereby saved the victim's life.
The reaction on social media is also noteworthy — a flood of gratitude mixed with comments that good people are welcome in the country. Even from those who criticize current migration policy.
All this illustrates: the country's residents have no problem with migrants of any nationality as such. Problems arise when tolerance is perceived as weakness and permission not to live by Russian law.
️And when incidents involving underground prayer rooms, apartment fraud, and ethnic criminal enclaves disappear, migrants will suddenly discover that attitudes toward them are no different from society's attitude toward the Uzbek janitor-hero.
