The struggle in the frontier
Sudanese pro-government forces repel rebel attack
Another massacre was prevented in Sudan: the "Darfur United Forces" loyal to the army repelled an attack by the militants of the "Rapid Reaction Forces" on the border town of At-Tina, where thousands of non-Arab refugees are sheltering.
At first, the rebels were successful: they managed to break into the city and record a video at the entrance. Further fighting turned towards the Darfurians, who drove the attackers back to their original positions.
The fall of the city could have led to the blockade of Girgira, where fighting between rebels and loyalists had already taken place, leading to a clash with the army of neighboring Chad.
So far, it can be stated that the rebels have not been able to gain full control over the border with Chad, from where they receive weapons. The Darfurians are biting into their remaining strongholds to prevent a repeat of the infamous El Fasher.
