This is a recommended introduction of musical 《Moriarty the Patriot》(as known as モリミュ).It is adapted from a manga of the same name, serialized in 《JUMP SQ》magazine. The story is adapted from Arthur Conan Doyle's ''The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes'', reimagined from the perspective of Sherlock Holmes' greatest adversary, Professor Moriarty.


To celebrate its fifth anniversary and the upcoming concert in July, the series will gradually be made available on major streaming platforms in Japan. Even overseas fans will be able to rent individual episodes for viewing. Don't miss the chance to experience Op.1 ~ Op.5!

Plot Summary

The background is set in the late 19th century British Empire, a society ruled by the upper class filled with discrimination.William James Moriarty attempts to eradicate the evils of the class system and create an ideal nation, while Sherlock Holmes stands as his adversary.

Op.1(Corresponds to animation Ep.02~09)

Chapter One: "The Birth of Moriarty"

William (played by Shogo Suzuki(鈴木勝吾)) and Louis (played by Ikkei Yamamoto(山本一慶)) have moved to Durham. Local farmers harbor deep grievances against the oppressive lord of the area, and as a "consulting criminal," William accepts their commission.


Chapter Two: "The Noahtic Ark"

On the maiden voyage of the luxurious cruise ship, Noahtic Ark, behind the scenes of a lavish banquet, Count Enders (played by Koji Kominami(小南光司)) is going to engage in a "human hunt." In order to send the demons of humanity to hell, William and his companions also board the ship. Just as operations under Albert's (played by Hidetoshi Kubota(久保田秀敏)) command are proceeding smoothly, Sherlock Holmes (played by Ryo Hirano(平野良)) suddenly appears in front of William.This is the fateful encounter between the two.


Chapter Three: "The Study of Sherlock Holmes"

William believes that Sherlock is the perfect protagonist for his "crime drama" and decides to hold auditions.Guided by William and his associates, Sherlock is arrested and imprisoned by the London police for the murder of a nobleman. Sherlock, together with John H. Watson (played by Kenta Kamakari(鎌苅健太)), embarks on an investigation to uncover the true identity of the mastermind behind the scenes.


Op.2《A Scandal  in British Empire》(Corresponds to animation Ep.10~14)

Chapter One: "The Hunt at the Baskerville Estate"

In the impoverished districts of London, a child kidnapping occurs. Fred (played by Ryotaro Akazawa(赤澤遼太郎)) learns that nobles are engaging in human hunting. He wants to rescue the children but also worries about the impact it might have on William, so he discusses his feelings with Moran (played by Yuki Izawa(井澤勇貴)).


Chapter Two: "The Two Detectives"

Drawn by the enigmatic "Lord of Crime," Sherlock encounters William again on the train from York to London. As they engage in pleasant conversation, a sudden murder occurs, and the suspect turns out to be his companion, John. Sherlock challenges William to a competition to see who can uncover the real culprit first.


Chapter Three: "A Scandal in the British Empire"

The Director of Military Intelligence Mycroft (played by Masakazu Nemoto(根本正勝))receives a royal order to retrieve crucial stolen documents from the royal family. The target is to eliminate "the woman," Irene Adler (played by Cecile Daigo(大湖せしる)). Meanwhile, Irene makes contact with Sherlock. What is the content of the confidential documents? What does Irene really want? The lord of crime,the famous detective, and the beautiful femme fatale unravel a peculiar relationship, exposing a scandal in the British Empire.


Op.3 《The Phantom of Whitechapel》(Corresponds to animation Ep.15~17)

The notorious serial killer Jack the Ripper suddenly appears in the impoverished East End of London, sending out taunting letters and committing gruesome crimes. The unidentified killer garners widespread media attention. People are deeply entrenched in fear of Jack the Ripper, and the situation gradually escalates into clashes between the police and the self-defense groups in the impoverished district. During this time, the consulting criminal William receives a commissioned letter from his former teacher, Renfield. Meanwhile, with a serious expression, inspector Lestrade (played by Shun Takagi(髙木俊)) pays a visit to Sherlock and John.


Op.4 《The Two Criminals》(Corresponds to animation Ep.18~22)

Chapter One: "The White Kinght of London"

Is the Lord of Crime a hero, a villain, or a vigilante ? Various rumors abound, while people's attention is focused on the efforts of the equality fighter, Councilman Whitley (played by Kazuma Kawahara (川原一馬)). To confirm his determination, William entrusts him with evidence that could compel the House of Lords to yield. As the intimidating lord Milverton (played by Ray Fujita(藤田玲)) closes in, what choice will Whitley make once he holds the power ?


Chapter Two: "The Sign of the Four"

"We are getting married!"

John suddenly brings his fiancée Mary (played by Yuka Yamauchi(山內優花)) back home, and she carries an unresolved mystery with her. Her father disappeared, and since then, she has received a pearl every year. And now, someone has sent her a letter, requesting to meet with her. Sherlock, harboring suspicions about Mary, gradually uncovers the truth.

Op.5《The Final Problem》(Corresponds to animation Ep.23~24)

The time is the late 19th century, during the British Victorian era, in London.

The social system that determines a person's lifelong status from birth inevitably leads to discrimination among individuals. Amidst this, there is someone who seeks to eliminate the drawbacks of the class system and create an ideal nation.

Can I understand it without having seen the original work?

The musical covers the entirety of the anime series as well as manga volumes 01 to 14. While some content has been omitted due to space constraints, it's still perfectly understandable as a standalone production.
