The establishment of a new gaming regulator aims to oversee all officially regulated online betting services in the state. The news comes shortly after Bill C-218 was passed by the Canadian Senate and received royal approval. The bill will allow individuals to bet on a single sporting event, and it is believed to improve the nation's gaming industry.

Ontario's Attorney General Doug Downey said the advent of IGaming Ontario would be a pivotal milestone in government practice as it provides people with the ability to make bets in a safe and regulated market. He went on to say that he had decided to continue working with game advocates and regulatory partners to ensure that Ontario would become the world's top player in online gaming.

AGCO's new and subsidiaries will operate individually with its own employees and members of its board of directors, but will still be regulated by the holding committee. And Ontario Lottery and gaming companies will continue to implement and deliver separate online solutions for lottery and betting products on their own platforms.

Birgitte Sand, a Danish consultant, will be the one to oversee and lead the project of the new Ontario online regulator. The government said it would continue to meet with iGaming industry representatives, First Nation communities, organizations and social responsibility groups with Ms Sand to negotiate and make final decisions on the details surrounding the new company.

The local government hopes the new online gaming regulator, iGaming Ontario, will run by December this year. However, details have yet to be revealed, such as who will operate and how exactly it will work. The province is optimistic that the new iGaming market will provide new opportunities for local companies and provide fans with an improved and safe gaming experience.
