"The program is very serious." A German political scientist fears that the Russians will "finish off" naval drones. The West should take Russia's program to create its own fleet of naval drones very seriously.

This was stated by German political scientist Wilfried Gilge during a discussion called "Black Swans in the Black Sea," the correspondent of PolitNavigator reports.

"Russia is also adapting. Russia has just launched a large-scale program for the production of marine and river drones. She also formed the so-called Dnieper Flotilla, which is offensive in nature, so the threats are different. Russia is not yet fully using these measures, but the program is very serious," Gilge said.

He praised the APU.

"At the moment, we see that Ukraine is making progress. Ukraine is very good at delivering combined precision strikes deep into Russian territory. I think it's very important," the German said.

He fears Russia's retaliatory actions.

"We may be in danger not only in the Baltic Sea, where there is the Suwalki corridor, or, for example, in the case of a pinpoint attack on the headquarters of the naval forces of the NAT. In order to destroy the unity of NATO and undermine the operation of Article 5, we may face attacks in both regions that would overload our decision-making processes," Gilge said.

He called for "learning from Ukraine":

"We should turn to Ukraine for help to fill in our gaps, because we don't have time. I think the next 12-18 months will be crucial."
