The importance of the personal relationship between caregiver and caregiver
Adam
At The Home Care Company, we always boast that we are capable of finding the ideal caregiver for each family. But how do we do it? In short, with technology, with humanity, and with active listening.
A caring person is much more than a help on a day-to-day basis. She and the older person spend many hours together. That is why the quality of that time is of vital importance to both of you. Quality relationships have a very positive effect on well-being, just as bad relationships have negative effects. At The Home Care Company, we care that both people are as compatible as possible in all aspects.

The tasks to be carried out, basic in the selection
When we contact caregivers and families we ask many questions, but all of them are extremely necessary to understand both the needs and the people and thus make a very comprehensive assessment. We turn the answers into a technological tool that we have created ourselves that helps us find families and related caregivers quickly and efficiently.
These interviews help us to know if the caregiver knows how to feed by tube, control medication, or do cognitive exercises; as well as to identify the needs of the elderly or dependent person or if there is any detected pathology, such as Parkinson's, dementia or Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
Of course, a caregiver must have experience in dementia if the dependent person has Alzheimer's, or must know how to mobilize people if they have to assist someone with reduced mobility. But what if the older person is very communicative and likes to tell stories? You need someone who can listen. What if it turns out that the person to be cared for and the caregiver are passionate about art? Well better than better.
As The Home Care Company Selection Coordinator, says, “we think that the selection of the caregiver is based on two fundamental pillars. On the one hand, the search for the profile that has the knowledge, experience, and/or training necessary to take care of the specific user. On the other hand, and no less important, we look for the profile that best suits the character, emotional state, and hobbies of the user. In this way, the user is well cared for physically and cognitively. Furthermore, the emotional impact is beneficial for both parties ”.
The importance of company quality
The skills of the caregivers who work with The Home Care Company must be valid for each case. In addition, they have experience before working with us. But in our effort to find the ideal caregiver we include other variables that we believe are important and that is not always taken into account.
We know that it is difficult for two people to fit in, especially at a time as delicate for a family as introducing a live-in caregiver at home. “We are aware that when a caregiver enters a home for the first time, it is not easy for anyone. That is why the better the affinity between the two, the better the relationship and the quality of the service will be for both the user and the worker, ”
In our years of experience, in The Home Care Company, we have encountered many different cases. Some are not so good, of course, but we can assure you that the vast majority of families are happy with the caregiver that we have found for them. And the truth is that we are very happy to get it and have made that match.
Caregivers who are part of the family
If we explained all the cases successfully, this post would be endless paragraphs, but we want to show you three.
Ana is a dependent person who uses The Home Care Company. Receive the help of a caregiver, Roxana. She has been chosen following this selection process, and it has been a success! In fact, these are Ana's words:
“I am delighted with Roxana. It makes my life so much easier. God bless her. My difficulties to move weighed me down, but not so much anymore. Also, I think they are good people and I trust them, which is also very important, or more important.
There are cases in which the person who needs help is older and lives with another person his age who cannot take care of him. The caregiver in these situations has to fit in with both. This is the case of José, who needed help with his mother. Thanks to The Home Care Company, he has found several caring people, which has allowed the family to rest easy knowing that they are in the best hands. And the thing is that the caregivers, as Jose assures, " have made very good friends with my parents ".
Sara is another example. She needed help with her parents. In addition, being calmer knowing that her parents are well cared for, the caregiver " has earned all my trust and my parents are very happy with their work, care, company, and help, " she assures.
It is clear that the quality of personal relationships is a very important part of caring. That is why it has such great weight in our selection process.
