"The goal is to win"
Cheongju Dream Team (Park Seok-hyun, Nam-Hul, and Noh Seung-jun) visited the 2023 Youth Sports Hanmadang 3x3 Basketball Chungbuk Competition held at the Cheongju National Sports Center on the 25th.
Hosted by the Korea Sports Association, organized by the Korea Basketball Association, the Chungcheongbuk-do Basketball Association, and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the National Sports Promotion Corporation, the event is a meaningful competition in which student players and ordinary students form a team together.
While basketball dreamers from all over the country, including Seoul and Busan, gathered in Cheongju, the Cheongju Dream Team Basketball, also participated in the competition with four teams.
Among them, the Cheongju Dream Team, consisting of Park Seok-hyun (Juseong Middle School 1), Namhoool (Cheongwon Elementary School 6) and Noh Seung-joon (Changri Elementary School 5), won the first preliminary match and took a fresh first step toward winning. Captain Park Seok-hyun participated in the competition as a student player and was linked to the Cheongju Dream Team basketball and skill training, so he will participate in the competition until this time.
Park Seok-hyun said, "I learned skill training from Dr. Kim Dong-woo last year. I became close to the younger members of the Dream Team at that time, and I came with him because I heard a special competition will be held in Cheongju."
A competition in which student-athletes and ordinary students team up together will be unfamiliar to them as well. "It's my first time in a competition like this, but it feels different. I think it's more fun because there are many good friends and various talents are mixed," Nam said.
Kim Dong-woo, who is leading the basketball team of the Cheongju Dream Team, has 3x3 experience as an active player in the national team. Kim Dong-woo also led aspiring players to the stadium and delivered 3x3 techniques and know-how to children.
"Thanks to Kim Dong-woo, a former member of the 3x3 national team, I was able to experience 3x3 and participate in such competitions," Noh said. "I practiced with the director yesterday," he said. "He advised me that shots must exist in 3x3 and that I should play well on the screen. Thanks to him, I am having a valuable experience."
Of course, the goal of the Cheongju Dream Team, which is considered a strong candidate for the championship, is to win the title. Finally, the three players said, "Of course, the goal is to win the title. If the three players have different roles and work well together, I think they can even win the title. I want to win the second place even if I am not good at it."
