The first step of Peppers director Jang So-yeon

As a player, he is more veteran than anyone else, but as a coach, he is labeled as a "novice driver."

Pepper Savings Bank officially announced on the 25th of last month that it has decided to appoint commentator Jang So-yeon as its new director.

This marks the fourth time in three years that Pepper Savings Bank has officially appointed its fourth head coach following former coach Kim Hyung-sil, former coach Ahenkim, and former coach Jotringe. Twice, the former sought innovative volleyball as the coach for foreigners, but all failed in the end. Ahenkim did not even make his debut, and Jotringe gave up the baton due to his team's internal feud and poor performance.

Pepper Savings Bank appointed Jang, and unlike the men's overseas team, the women's team seems to have changed its direction to become the nation's top coach. Currently, Marcello Avon Danza (Heungkuk Life Insurance) is the only foreign coach in the women's team.

During his active career, Jang was known as a legendary middle blocker who led the Korean women's volleyball team. He started his career as a member of SK Chemicals' volleyball team in 1992 and won the Presidential Rookie of the Year award in the 1992-93 season. He also played for about 10 years on the national team and enjoyed the heyday of women's volleyball. After retiring from active duty, he became a commentator for SBS Sports and has been delivering live voice to viewers for about eight years until this year.

However, he has no experience as a coach or other coach. He is thus taking on a challenge in a completely new direction by leading the Pepper Savings Bank.

In an interview with MHN Sports immediately after the appointment of the head coach, coach Jang explained the background of the coach's challenge, saying, "I always wanted to be with him on the spot."

The Pepper Savings Bank squad returned from vacation on the 7th and began training on the 8th. The team has taken a break for nearly three weeks and is still in a heavy physical condition.

"We are still starting with wall training focusing on the players' basic skills," Jang told MHN Sports over the phone on Wednesday. "Some are familiar with wall training, and others are trying to do it after a long time. The training is underway to increase and decrease the amount of training to suit individual conditions of players. This week, I spend most of my time working with players including meeting each other."

Under coach Jang, the team is currently re-establishing all the basics, including sub-receiving, two-tier connection, defense and overhand toss form.

Coach Jang was appointed in the absence of players after finishing the season early. Therefore, it was only this week that he had a proper meeting with the team.

"Rather than feeling excited or 'scary' or 'abstract' as a leader, the players themselves are actually friends I've seen every day," he said. "I feel a heavy sense of responsibility."

Pepper Savings Bank will send team captain and national team captain Park Jung-ah and setter Dr. Lang to the national team on the 15th.

Korean women's volleyball will participate in the Volleyball Nations League (VNL), which will be held in Brazil, the United States, and Japan for about a month from May 14 to June 16.

In particular, this is the first time that Park has been selected as a senior member of the Korean national team since her debut in the third season. "I hope (Park) Sarang will have a good experience to come and learn a lot from the upcoming national team," Jang said. "(Park) Jeong-ah also had a hard time last year because her schedule was full until September, but she joined the team earlier this year, so (she will be able to work together)."

Coach Jang also mentioned the "volleyball he wants to play" and pointed it out once.

His motto is "fine volleyball" as well as staying faithful to the basics. Rather than improving the thick part from the beginning, he focuses on strengthening the inner room by reducing minor mistakes. 메이저사이트

"In fact, if you want to play volleyball, you don't have to overdo it," Jang said. "My goal is to play volleyball delicately. It is hard to say (generously) that mistakes are made. However, there are areas that one can often miss when playing volleyball. It could be a heretical connection to a striker, an attack cover in front of the net, and a situation that happens to the opponent team beyond the net (reading). There are invisible details, and if we reinforce these areas, we can reduce minor mistakes that occur in every set," he said, focusing on the "Pepper Savings Bank" that slowly stands up.

It's been a busy week for Jang, who's a novice coach. With Oh Ji-young and some other players leaving, the team is running out of power, and Yasmeen has to head to the Turkiye League to grow mercenaries well to revive the year. Players in the Asian quarter should also be aware of. In particular, Kim Hae-bin became a free agent this season. Of course, the market for other teams is open. As soon as Jang was appointed, he had a tremendous mission to succeed in the sales of the team.

"We are looking into recruiting FA and strengthening our capabilities, and we are working hard to analyze videos of foreign players with our coaches. I am out of my mind," Jang said with a big smile.
