Cherubina de Gabriak
A story about Russian Princess Olga of Kiev and Igor the Old who was a Varangian ruler of Kievan RUS' from 912 to 945.
Igor was killed while collecting tribute from the Drevlians in 945. The Byzantine historian and chronicler Leo the Deacon describes how Igor met his death: "They had bent down two birch trees to the prince's feet and tied them to his legs; then they let the trees straighten again, thus tearing the prince's body apart."
After that the Drevlians' ruler Mal who ordered to kill Igor sent a delegation to Olga with a marriage proposal. She pretended to accept it but when the wedding ambassadors came, she ordered to bury them alive. Another ambassadors were burned to death in the bath house.
Then Olga and her team went to Mall and said that before wedding she would like to visit Igor's grave. Mal agreed. There he organized a party, and when Mal and his people got drunk, Olga ordered to kill them all.
After that her warriors attacked the Drevlians and won the battle. The Drevlians ran into their capital Iskorosten and hid there. Olga sent a messenger who offered the unexpectedly mild terms the lifting the siege. She wanted them to pay tribute - 3 pigeons and 3 sparrows from each house. The Drevlians sent all that Olga demanded, and she ordered to tie a lit tinder to each bird and to let them go. Of course, the birds immediately returned to their houses and set a big fire in the town. Iskorosten fell.
They say that it was the first remote-controlled attack in the world.
