The first Month of RuneScape 3 by the Numbers

It's been a bit more than a month since RuneScape updated to RuneScape 3 -- an overhaul of the graphics and mechanics, but still maintains the fundamentals of the game. Extrememining But how well has it done in that month? The team at Jagex has crunched some numbers and they are positive. In the last 30 days 100,000 players have activated their old accounts and 300,000 have created new accounts to play the game.

Around 600,000 hours of gameplay have been logged per day on all existing, new, and reactivated accounts. That is pretty staggering. Since the game's launch event players have killed 60 million hostile soldiers and collected 1 billion Divine Tears (remnants of a now-dead god whose death kicked off the current state of the game). Although it's premature to call the game either a success or a failure it is a good indication that even older games can still have plenty of life.

Jagex also posted video about the new Nightmare Zone. This is content that is now available for Old School RuneScape, but isn't coming to RuneScape 3 itself. We've embedded it below.
