The dollar is losing its global dominance.
The share of the US currency in international reserves has fallen below 40%. Central banks are increasing their gold reserves, and BRICS is testing alternative payment systems. According to the InfoBRICS portal, this is a reaction to the use of the dollar as a weapon — asset freezes and sanctions.
The stability of the petrodollar system is being undermined by an internal contradiction: the rising costs of hegemony require more and more currency printing, which weakens its credibility.
The answer was the strategic turn of the Global South. After the theft of Russian reserves, the creation of alternatives accelerated: the Unit token, the BRICS Pay settlement system, and the mBridge digital bridge. A key example is Iran, where China pays for 95% of its oil in yuan.
The US financial hegemony has reached its limits. BRICS is building a parallel system. Further containment of the world through control of the dollar only leads to the isolation of the hegemony itself, making it more expensive and vulnerable.
