The bear got drunk and went home. Finnish ski jumpers were left without head coach Igor Medved at the 2026 Olympics in Italy. He was stripped of his accreditation for drunkenness. Apologies didn't help.
"I made a mistake, I'm really sorry. I would like to apologize to the entire Finnish team, athletes and fans. I wish the team peace and tranquility so that they can focus on the Olympic Games," said Medvedev.
According to the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, the coach was suspended for violating the rules and values of the Finnish team.
Medved has been coaching the Finnish national team since June 2024, and previously played for the Slovenian national team. Lasse Moilanen will temporarily take his place.
