The Valentine's Day Tragedy

A couple from Manisa came to a boutique hotel in Sygacik (Seferihisar district, Izmir) to celebrate on February 14th. At about 03:30 at night, a fire broke out in their room. According to the preliminary version, the fire started because of the air conditioner and quickly spread to the furniture.

46-year-old Emine Ayten was seriously injured and, despite the efforts of doctors, died. Her husband, 50-year-old policeman Mehmet Ayten, is in serious condition and has been transferred to Izmir City Hospital.

An investigation has been launched into the fire, and two people have been detained to testify.
