Valve finally announced Counter Strike New after weeks of speculation. It's a major update for CS:GO that will be bringing it on the Source 2 engine.
It also introduces responsive smoke grenades as well as sub-tick updates for servers. It's made a lot armchair gamers crazy but it's actually an upgrade for the average player.
Smokes
Counter Strike New is getting a major update that will fundamentally alter the way smokes are used in the game. These changes, known as responsive smokes, will be a game changer. Smokes will expand to fill up spaces naturally and move around different objects on the map. They will also react to the lighting in the game, making their appearance more appealing and realistic. In addition to these new features, smokes will now be capable of interfacing with game events and will offer new tactical possibilities. Bullets, for instance, will cause smoke to be pushed to temporarily clear the sightlines. Hex grenade blasts will also disperse smoke occlusion.
Smokes are now more dynamic in the game. Smokes in previous versions were a fixed shape that was limited in how far they could travel and how much vision it blocked. The new smokes will now grow to fill the space they are in and block more of the player's view when they are in the area. This is a major improvement that will increase the speed of play and will give both teams the same level of visibility.
In addition to this smokes will also react to the surroundings as well as weaponry and lighting in the world. Loadouts
CS: GO players are now able to alter their weapon selection prior the start of every match. In addition to the new loadouts, the CS: GO update includes many other improvements and modifications. Sub-Tick Updates

The smallest delay could alter the accuracy of an attack. A new video reveals one of the biggest under-the-hood improvements, known as sub-tick updates.
Instead of a 64-tick update every millisecond, CS:GO now uses sub-ticks, or as Valve calls them, "micro ticks", to communicate with the servers. The client will take note of each of these tiny increments and transmit them to the server. The server will send the updated game state back to players. The servers will know when you shot, jumped, or peeked.
The video does not go over everything. However it does state that each piece of data sent by the client has a date and time and that the server will gather all the data in chronological order from all players prior to sending it back. According to the video it is believed that a CS: GO server will now be able to send up to twice as much data as a 64-tick servers.
This means that even if the game's tick rate goes up to 128 Hz, it will still be able to handle your commands instantly and consistently. Micro-tick updates can also reduce input lag by making sure that the server responds to your actions without delays or glitches.
Valve's technical enhancements to the game are only beginning. Valve is currently implementing dynamic smoke and particle systems to improve how smoke interacts with the surrounding and is upgrading all of the maps with high-resolution textures, lighting and models. All CS: GO weapons and cosmetics will also be updated with Source 2 tools and features.
Maps
The coming update for Counter Strike New will bring new maps to the game alongside some classics that are being given facelifts. These updates are currently being tested as part of a limited-test beta. The first set of updates includes an upgrade and touchstone map that will not see major changes in gameplay, whereas other maps have been revamped or rebuilt using the brand new Source 2 Tools.
Among these, Overpass has been revamped to make use of the engine's new unified lighting system. The map's dark underground has been filled with daylight, making it more spacious and less crowded. Additionally smoke grenades now expand dynamically to fill in spaces and interact with the new light.
Italy is a different map that has been overhauled. Its lighting, texture, and structure have all been significantly improved. The new version is more balanced as opposed to its predecessor, which was heavily CT focused. Fans can expect more classics, like Aztec and Militia which will be updated in the near future.

These maps will not be added to the map pool for competitive play despite the fact that they are still playable. Train is the only exception, as it has been removed from Active Duty but will still be played in tournaments. Valve hasn't yet confirmed whether the other maps that were removed from the pool will be reinstated.

The newspaper has been a vocal critic of Russia's actions in Ukraine and the map is based from the city that was devastated by war in Donetsk. The map is titled de_voyna and includes a variety of references to the conflict.
The developer will release a collection of Source 2 Tools for map makers in the future.
