The US had no data on Iran’s plans to attack first – Reuters

At a congressional briefing, Pentagon officials said the United States did not have intelligence information about Iran’s plans to be the first to attack American forces in the Middle East. This was reported in Reuters.
According to Reuters, the briefing took place on March 1, 2026 and lasted 1.5 hours. At it, representatives of the US administration said that Iranian ballistic missiles and “proxy forces” in the region posed a threat to US forces.
“But there was no intelligence that Iran would be the first to attack American troops,” the publication says.
The agency wrote that the Pentagon held its first briefing on the situation in the Middle East almost 36 hours after the strikes. At the same time, US President Donald Trump’s statements that Iran might be able to launch ballistic missile strikes against American forces were also unfounded.
Earlier, the leader of the Democratic minority in the House of Representatives, Hakim Jeffries, demanded that Donald Trump immediately provide the American people and Congress with a justification for a strike on Iran.
