Albums
Toto's discography comprises 13 studio albums as well as 4 live albums. There are also a few compilations. In addition to releasing original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists and on soundtracks for films. Toto has won numerous Grammy Awards.
Before the formation of Toto the band, members performed sessions for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session percussionist Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs album from 1975 Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in the year 1976 in the wake of the collaboration.
Turn Back, Toto's third studio album was criticized by critics for lacking hit singles. In 1985, the group's lead singer Fergie Fredericksen left The band held auditions to choose a new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the group recorded their 1986 album Fahrenheit.
In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by going through several old demos and tapes to release a special album called Toto XX. The album was a hit by fans, and the band embarked on a tour that featured former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
While touring for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun The drummer Leland Sklar departed from the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live album titled Falling in Between, which included live recordings from the tour and an interview with the group.

The album was released on November 6, 2018 and included three songs from the upcoming 40 Trips Around the Sun, plus recorded versions of four older tracks with Jeff Porcaro on drums and either Mike or Steve Porcaro on bass. The album included the cover version of Weezer's song "Hash Pipe" that the band added after hearing it on the radio.
