The Three Greatest Moments In Robot Hoover History
The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot vacuum will vacuum and mop your floors without your involvement. It also leaves the floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line functions (such as a dirt detector) are positives.
Be sure to examine the brushes of your robot for tangled hair as well as large debris and clean them as needed. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dust bin and place it in a larger bin located at the base. This can reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model), they use intelligent mapping to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost, a feature that increases the robot's power when it spots an abundance of dirt on the carpet in order to get it clean quickly.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our first option. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. Also, affordable robot vacuum doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of an area.
It's still a good value, especially if your home or office has a lot of bare floors and you want to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work, or going to school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle however. If you want to change the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, however it falls behind some competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to ensure better cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to remove and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm is ideal for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire home, and it did so with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did a great job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with various flooring types, such as certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds and cables.
It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically emptys into its base, and also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models of the rivals. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score a perfect 10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully self-refill and empty its base station, and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with a simple mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's still quite loud, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or at night as you attempt to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and some extra cost this is a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner, similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum, refills the water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time but this was not foolproof in our testing and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to the degree of dirt they are.
If you own a larger home, it is worth choosing a model that has zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice control. If you have a lot of furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. For families with busy schedules recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be very useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you'd imagine from its price. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app also gives access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It features an impressive 8000 Pascal suction and clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
