Toujou Basara is a high school student whose father has suddenly just remarried. His father then departs overseas leaving Basara with two new beautiful step-sisters. Little does he know, his new sisters, Mio and Maria are actually the new Demon Lord and a succubus!? When it comes to some anime, you can tell what the whole story is going to be like by just reading the blurb on the back of the case, some you can tell everything by seeing the rating and why it’s rated so. The Testament of Sister New Devil is a classic example of that, an anime that gives you exactly what you know you’re going to get and nothing more.
Running into your new stepsister in the bathroom is not the best way to make a good first impression, which Basara Toujou learns the hard way. When his father suddenly brings home two beautiful girls and introduces them as his new siblings, he has no choice but to accept into his family the Naruse sisters: busty redhead Mio and petite silver-haired Maria.
But when these seemingly normal girls reveal themselves as demons—Mio the former Demon Lord’s only daughter and Maria her trusted succubus servant—Basara is forced to reveal himself as a former member of a clan of “Heroes,” sworn enemies of the demons. However, having begun to care for his new sisters, Basara instead decides to protect them with his powers and forms a master-servant contract with Mio to keep watch over her.
With the Heroes observing his every move and the constant threat of hostile demons, Basara has to do the impossible to protect his new family members. Moreover, the protector himself is hiding his own dark secret that still haunts him to this day…
The Testament of Sister New Devil delivers what I expected form the get go: A weird mix of comedy, fanservice, sexual mishaps and action. Honestly, there isn’t much to say about The Testament of Sister New Devil beyond this. Given the situation between devils, hunters and humans; there is just what you expect. You get a few battles where the hero (Basara) awakens a magical power to protect the new demon lord (Mio) and he gets help from other characters from time to time. Outside of these battles there is the typical tropes of the long time best friend who is secretly in love with the main hero (Yuki), who is torn by her love for the main character and her duty to killing demons. There’s also the typical sexual tension between lead female and lead male, which thanks to the “help” of a third party (Maria), ends up with outrageous sexual mishaps and all that jazz. All this leads up to a choice the hero has to make between one or the other, but he goes with the demon lord chick because tropes.
What didn’t work with The Testament of Sister New Devil is the same as what works: It’s just what you expected from the show from reading the box. The issue is that after seeing more extreme versions of this in things like HighSchool DxD , The Testament of Sister New Devil just seems tame in comparison. The almost instant forcing of the sexual mishaps from Episode 1 just seems like the show is relying more on the tropes than it is developing a different style or even decent characters. Everyone in The Testament of Sister New Devil is just a stereotype and that’s it, and frankly I’m getting to the point where I’m over seeing this time and time again. Maybe it’s just me getting sick of the same things, or maybe the writing has just died off like it has in Western media.
The Testament of Sister New Devil is a show that relies too much on tropes to get it over the line, which is a huge missed opportunity. However, there is a solid delivery in those tropes that can keep someone entertained through it’s limited run time. The animation here is rock solid, as is the audio, but it’s the writing that lets The Testament of Sister New Devil down at the end of the day. You’ve seen things like this before and you’ll see it again. This was half-assed writing with a pretty cover… Such a shame.

The Testament of Sister New Devil is a prime example of hiding behind a bunch of tropes to sell a story that just really isn’t there. While the characters could become something more, they just don’t grow beyond who they are at the start of the show. You’ve seen this before and you’ll see it done better elsewhere.

If you liked either one you'll like the other. I would wait till The Testament of Sister New Devil is uncensored though for those ecchi fans (this is what I'm doing).
Easily comparable, both series are adaptations of succesful Light Novel series. If you enjoy fast paced magical based action with a bit of shameless perversion from a character or two you'll love either of these series. Both of them are so similar it's impossible to not think on one of them while watching the other. Both are action-fantasy anime which have a similar setting, having both series 3 different factions which were previously at war (demons, angels and fallen angels in DxD and demons, heroes and gods in Testament) which have their eyes set on the main girl, also said girl happens to be a red-haired demon in both series. Needless to say both series are quite ecchi (though I'd say Testament is way more explicit than DxD). Fans of one will enjoy the other for sure.
They both deal with demons and mysticehl stuf, and they are both pretty perverted, the main charechter in both series are getting a harem of both small and big brestet women
Bot have hot main females and both have action mixed in. Both harems with lots of ecchi moments. Both are funny and have a variety of characters. Both main characters have special weapons that are implanted into an arm.
Clearly similar if not the same, protagonist followed by multiple womens. Both have a similar kind of Ecchi and are also related to Harem, Action and Fantasy with a pinch of Comedy. If you're desperately waiting for a new season of Shinmai Maou no Testament or High School DxD just watch the other one, they are CLEARLY the same type of anime.
These animes have some very similar elements - demons, magic, fighting, lots of boobs, strong red-head female lead, nice guy who's a bit of a horn dog, and all that fun stuff.
DUH!!! The MC has his life turned around by a red haired female devil and as crazy as it sounds gets harem as a result AS DUMB AS IT SOUNDS ITS REALLY EPIC HIGH SCHOOL DXD IS ONE OF MY TOP TEN ANIMES
They are both about a boy who has a crush on a red haired demonlord and the main character has a lot of girls for some anime logic reason. HAREM AM I RIGHT.
Similar genre, similar theme. Heroic nobody somehow finds himself in the middle of a fight between worlds (demons vs demons, demons vs humans), not to mention suddenly surrounded by beautiful women, who aren't afraid to show off.
They are carbon copies of each other. with a better animation team on DXD and me personally watch DXD for the tits in the beginning but quicly learned to love the show for its amazing story and pulsating action

Rias is actually the same character as Mio (Devil lord’s family members)

Personally I think DXD is more fun to watch, but I like Basara more than Issei, Basara isn’t afraid to do ecchi things or doesn’t freeze when he is given the chance to grope boobs.
Both have a battle between Demons and Gods (well instead of angels you have heroes but it’s still ok)
Both MCs gain power from fondling boobs and generally doing ecchi things :) (Basara doesn’t do it in the middle of the battle though)
If you liked this, then you will probably like this too. As they both feature Ecchi stories focusing on demons in a school life setting and the dangers they face.
Very similar premises between both shows and the comedy is almost identical. I will say highschool dxd has a better plot and better fights while testament has a bit more over the top ecchi.
They have the same core asthetics. The boobs, the drama, the easy-to-remember charactors, the semi-intense fights, and a decent backround story. They both hit you in the face with sudden change in the Main-charactor's life though. They don't have the same plot obviously, but if you liked Highschool DxD you will like Testament of Sister New Devil.
This anime i strongly recommend to my bros who are always dreaming about sexy busty babes. High school DxD is here to fulfill your fantasies.
As you might read in the synopsis that this story about a guy named Issei Hyoudou who is just like any normal high school teen filled with hormones and always dreaming to get some action. Little did he know that his life was gonna change after meeting a fallen angel. He gets a second chance by being reborn as a devil servant in service of the heroine of the series Rias Gremory.After being born as devil issei sets a goal to become a high ranking devil and become a harem king. The journey of being a high ranking devil makes Issei strong and desirable by the girls around.
it has all kind of characters demons, fallen angels, angels, dragons and what not.
Watch once and you'll fall into love with the characters. I have become addicted to these franchise.
