It's rare to see a quaint, quirky, cute, clean and off-the-wall-witty movie these days. Among modern films, I find little I like... so this was a beautiful find. Absolutely loved the rough-round the edges, homespun characters, the in-the-throes of death seaside village (small harbor) and the unfolding lunacy to keep the temporary doc in town. The cricket was particularly brilliant. Considering todays trash heap of poor writing, worse plot lines and tasteless humor, this is spectacular. "I'll be a watchin' this a far many times!" Thank you!

If you're looking for a thoughtful story about a community pulling together "at all costs" and doing "whatever it takes" to get a doctor for their tiny fishing harbor, with a good script, actors, photography and direction, then you've found it.

they will learn to play for the dr. they listen to his private telephone calls with his girlfriend back home and learn more than they want. it's a cute funny story about a town, who does everything together. they have nothing else to do.

This movie made me truly laugh out loud in some parts. The scheming and lying that brought this town together for a common goal was very crafty. I really despise lies! They usually wind up hurting someone! However, the common goal for this town was meaningful. They wanted to get off welfare, and get back to work. In order to do that they had to convince a big Corporation to open there, and they had to convince a temporary Doctor to stay. The Grand Seduction was mostly done to the Doctor. He found out the truth towards the end of the movie, and was gracious enough to understand why he had been lied to by the entire town. He forgave the town therefore extending grace to the town much like Christ extends his grace to many who have done wrong. It was a beautiful movie to watch, especially considering it is the Holiday Season once again. This movie was a reminder of the flaws to be human, and the graces that are bestowed upon us each and every day. In these difficult times we are living in, it is important to look for grace in each day. No matter how difficult it is to find, it can always be found. If one cannot see something to be grateful for, they can always ask God to show them, then they will see!

Great script/dialogue...with a dry sense of humor that kept me laughing from the first 10 minutes to the end. Totally original story. Great cast/direction/cinematography/production design...just a thoroughly good time as well as uplifting...just what we all need during these trying times.
