Upgrades can increase the value of armors, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses like damage from PvE and crit chance.
If the weapon's upgrade template ends in %, it will gain 3% of its previous damage every time it is upgraded.
The cost for upgrading items increases when they reach the current level of the item. The cost rises with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into armor, weapons and trinkets in order to provide an extra stat boost or effect when they're used. These can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading with other players or looting. Certain upgrades also come with specific cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be placed in equipment that has a slot for them; the item must be at least upgraded to the blue level in order for the component to be inserted. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied only once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and Enrichments are a type of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascended equipment, as well as some non-ascended items. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging gear that is ascended or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade can include a suffix or prefix changing the name of the equipment with which it is applied (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players create stronger versions of the equipment that require the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than are required to achieve the same upgrade level through normal methods.
A boost upgrade can alter the defense or attack properties of a weapon, or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them in the cash shop or collecting them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.
The player can have up to five boost upgrades at one time. Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-level version of the item will appear in the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue upgrading their gear even if they're not sure of the extent to which it will increase after a future reset.
The process of upgrading an item could be costly and it is likely that the item will be obsolete, or even break, if the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items that can double or even eliminate chances of failure, and some upgrades that provide the benefit of being reinserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to upgrade the Paragon Board by placing them in special sockets. Glyphs can boost the performance of nodes within a radius, and include any pre-existing affixes. Glyphs can be upgraded many ways, and we recommend upgrading them to 15 levels as soon as possible.
In the endgame you'll find that the best way to enhance your equipment is to use Glyphs. These are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded up to level 15 and provide significant boosts to your power on the Paragon Board.
Glyphs, which is the only upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and then replaced with no restrictions, are the most common. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and re-placed using a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
Each Glyph has a specific range of values it can improve a statistic by. The value is shown when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.
There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools and also through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt has a chance to drop one of the numerous Glyphs and there are some rare Glyphs that can be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you'll need them to be placed on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that can boost the stats of a particular set of nodes in the vicinity of the Glyph. This will either be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats depending on the Glyph.
The use of a Glyph will boost all the nodes connected to it, and it is recommended to position your Glyphs near the most important nodes of the Graph to maximize the impact. Druids, for instance should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may also consider placing them near their most critical damage nodes.
Leveling
The upgrade system of items allows players to increase the stats of specific items by adding upgraded components. This is often referred to as "upping". Every upgradeable item has an amount that determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items are able to be leveled up to a maximum of 385 ilvl. Each level of an item requires various components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.
Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab of the crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns some Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrade the item, and when enough points have been earned, the upgrade can be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When a player upgrades a piece of equipment it will be replaced by the new item. The same armor will be upgraded to an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also comes with its own bonus. This can be a disadvantage because it can cause the item to become more expensive, even if you don't require it.
If the player has enough tokens they can roll the upgrade of their item. The item will be replaced by the same item, but it is based on a level 1 base and totally different bonuses. This can be useful for some items, but it shouldn't be repeated often, as it can use up many resources.
Some upgrades can increase their value and allow players to modify their equipment. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player is repeatedly in and out of the water (or is able to swim like a dolphin). It can be upgraded multiple times, each time increasing the max roll by 10 points. This item is highly valuable in PvP. A properly rolled version could be worth 50 times the value of a non-upgraded version.
Requirements
The item upgrader allows players to increase the level of their equippable equipment (armor, weapons trinkets, and weapons) beyond ilvl385 by handing over the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces improve the strength of their base defense and weapon upgrades items increase the damage they deal and also increase their strength and dexterity.
All items are upgradeable up to five times, except for hero equipment, which is able to be upgraded eight times. Each when you upgrade an item, it is given a chance to fail--the rate of failure increases as you go beyond the maximum number of upgrades. Failures will result in the item reverting to its original condition, which requires the user to pay more for materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the maximum number of upgrades.
If Casesgg does not upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it has gained, such as chances to be crit, attack damage, or additional effects (such as increased heal over time or the speed of reloading). The player will be able to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.
When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded receives a crit chance boost, the increase will be applied before any attack damage increases. A new attribute called Slots has been added to the item definition and the value is calculated each time an upgrade is applied.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating and number of upgrade slots. The upgrade cost for non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for example, a common equipment item might have 5 upgrades at a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will come with a much lower cost for each upgrade.
Premium items have different requirements for upgrading as compared to standard equipment, for instance, they may require fewer sowels, but they will require more minerals and erons. The player will still need to take every piece of equipment they wish to upgrade to NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine. In addition to the upgrade costs listed above, each equipment upgrade requires a different amount of the ingredients for upgrading.
