The basic mopping mode utilizes the same water reservoir as the vacuuming mode. This is ideal for spills that are not too serious, but you cannot limit the amount of water it consumes. That said, it does an admirable job of picking up pet hair, with a higher speed of pickup than the Roborock S7.
3. Miele RX2
Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is renowned for its quiet, efficient appliances. It has a beautiful design, excellent navigation and an impressive cleaning power. But it has a few operational oddities which prevent it from being considered as the top overall smart robot vacuum.
Similar to the latest models of iRobot and models, the RX2 has dual-sensor mapping that uses the LIDAR sensor to map out an area and two 3D scanning cameras to detect and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real-time. Once the room has been defined it is possible to assign virtual no-go zones and sections that you would like to be the robot. The RX2's sensors work well in registering furniture and other obstructions in real-time. The controls are less basic than those of the competition's. There's a clean button on the top and you can start it by using the app or via voice commands with Alexa or Google Assistant. It then uses that information to create an efficient and consistent cleaning path for each cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a cleaner vacuum than most competing high-end robot vacuums.
Other features of the 980 include two multi-surface rubber brushes that pick up dirt from carpets and hard floors, along with an ejector brush that moves debris into the robotic vacuum's bin. The sensors for floor tracking help it navigate across furniture and along edges, and Cliff Detect keeps the Roomba from slipping down stairs. It also automatically returns to the base station for simple charging between sessions. The battery life and bin capacity of the 980 aren't as impressive as some other robot vacuums. However, it's a reliable and solid machine that can keep floors clean for many hours.
