The Reasons Evolution Korea Is Everywhere This Year
Evolution Korea

In the past, the Korean scientific community resisted engaging with the creationists out of fear of giving the movement more credence. However, silence is no any longer an option.
The STR has been fighting to remove information about evolution from textbooks including the discovery that the feathered Archaeopteryx was an ancestor bird. This is only one aspect of how the concept of development has changed.
What is Evolution?
Evolution is a concept in science that explains changes in genetic traits over time. The theory is based upon the fact that living organisms adjust to their environment, which could result in changes to genes or entire genomes. Over time the changes could result in the creation of new species. Natural selection is the most popular theory of evolution. It explains how people with advantageous traits survive and reproduce more than those with less advantageous traits. In time, this disparity in reproduction can result in the creation of entirely new species.
The word "evolution" comes from the Latin word"evolution" which means unraveling or revealing, however the concept itself has a myriad of meanings as it has taken form in the fields of science and elsewhere. Early evolutionists like Erasmus Darwin (Charles’s grandfather) and Jean Baptiste de Lamarck believed that species were predetermined to evolve into a different species. Etienne Geoffroy St.Hilaire was Lamarck's embryologist student who invented the term "transmutation" to describe this theory. Charles Lyell, in his Principles of Geology, published in 1833, attacked the idea of evolution and borrowed the term from Geoffroy's student.
More recently evolutionary biologists have defined evolution as a process that occurs when living creatures develop characteristics that enhance their chances of survival or ability to reproduce offspring. In time the genetic variability could lead to the emergence of entirely new physical or biological traits in the same population. Natural selection is the main force behind most evolutionary changes. Changes that are not genetic, like an increase in muscle mass through exercise or diet, cannot be considered evolution because they don't pass on to future generations.
Despite the fact that evolution has stood the tests of time and thousands of scientific studies, creationists have seized on the notion that the theory is controversial and argue that it should not be taught in school. In South Korea, creationists won some victories against evolution in textbooks for high school. This includes the removal of references to the evolutionary roots of humans and Archaeopteryx - a feathered dino that is believed to be the ancestral bird's first ancestor.
Why is Evolution Important to Humanity?
Evolution explains how the Earth and all living species came to be. It is one of the fundamentals of biology, and aids scientists understand how living things work and grow. Evolution also shows how various species are interconnected. Scientists study evolution to better comprehend nature and make important discoveries like new treatments.
The evidence for biological evolution is overwhelming. There is no other scientific theory that explains so much about the universe and life on this planet, and it has been rigorously tested and confirmed over the course of many years. Many people, and even religious leaders, are in support of the scientific theory. It is important to note that evolutionary biology does not conflict with religious beliefs, since the theory only deals with objects, events and processes within the physical world.
Many religious people have found a way to reconcile evolution with their beliefs. Certain Christians for instance, believe that God created everything through evolution and that humans share an ancestral connection to other animals.
It is important for science educators to advocate for the teaching of evolution. Unfortunately, in some countries around the globe, anti-evolution sentiment is growing. In the United States, efforts to limit the teaching of evolution have made some progress in some states. In South Korea, a group called the Society for Textbook Revise, an offshoot of the Korea Association for Creation Research (KAC) is pushing for textbooks to include content on the evolutionary history of horses and their ancestral avian species Archaeopteryx.
Although these are alarming developments, it is important to remember that the evidence for evolution is overwhelming. The evidence comes from a broad range of sources, such as fossils, genetic studies, and the behavior of living organisms. Other scientists independently verify the evidence.
The vast majority of scientists support the theory of evolution. This belief is based on many different reasons. Certain scientists study evolution in order to discover practical solutions for example, such as the development of medicines and other treatments, while others are driven by an interest in improving the quality of life for animals and plant species, generally to benefit humans. Some are simply curious, and others have a profound faith in God and want to know how the universe works.
What is Creationism?
Creationists believe that God created everything in the universe. They also believe that the Bible is the word of God and should be taken seriously. Many creationists are Christians, but not all. Creationists generally fall in one of two categories: Young Earth creationists (YEC) and old earth creationists (OEC).
The most popular kind of creationist is called the YEC. They believe that God created the universe exactly in the way that is described in the Bible. YECs believe that the biblical account of the creation's six days is literal, and that the universe and the life on Earth was created only recently.
OECs may be less well-known, but their beliefs are just as intense as the YECs. OECs believe the universe and Earth are billions of years old, and believe that evolution is a myth.
Both types of creationism deny that scientific theories such as natural selection and abiogenesis are able to explain the origin of life on Earth. They assert that evolution is inconceivable because it would require miracles. The founders of modern scientific thought resisted miracles out of fear they could lose their credibility.
Some creationists accept naturalistic evolution and special creation. They call their view “theistic evolution." This is sometimes also known as "continuous creationism" or "evolution from the original species." 무료에볼루션 suggests that God creates species from scratch and allows them to change over time. Eventually, these evolutionary changes will result in new species like the original ones.
Other creationists believe that God created the universe and all living things in one event, referred to as the Great Flood. Creationists believe that all the original species were created at the same time and then gradually evolved. They reject the concept of abiogenesis and claim that self-replicating life can't come from non-living matter.
In general, the creationists are opposed to the teaching of evolution in schools. Numerous professional associations, like the National Science Teachers Association and the Association for Science Teacher Education endorse this view as do the American Anthropological Association and the Geological Society of America. Some scientists and educational institutions are however more flexible and permit both creationism and evolution to be incorporated into their curricula.
What is Creationism in Korea?
When people think of the concept of creationism most often, they think of the United States. South Korea also has an anti-evolutionist group. The publishers of high school textbooks have recently declared that they will be removing references to evolution from their editions. 에볼루션사이트 for Textbook Revise, an independent organization that is an offshoot of the Korea Association for Creation Research (KACCR) is the one who has led this drive. The STR has achieved its first victory by removing from textbooks evidence of the evolution and ancestor of the bird, the Archeopteryx. Its next target is to take out portions of Darwin's notorious finch-research and also on human evolution.
STR claims to have the support of 4,000 families and individuals. Its mission, it states, is to rid the world of what it calls "atheist materialism" that paints an image of students as being negative. It also hopes to combat the influence of American Creationists in the nation. A survey of biology students teachers found that about half do not believe in evolution. The reasons for this are not clear, but may include religious beliefs or the absence of full-time creation scientists across the United States.
The KACR has achieved a number of things in the past through seminars and lectures. It publishes a bimonthly news magazine, Creation, and has published books. One of these was a textbook on natural science with a creationist stance. This sparked an interest among college communities. In 1991, a professor, along with a minister, began teaching Creation Science at one university. It is still taught today.
On August 6 and 7 in 1993, the same day that the World Expo opened in Daejeon, KACR held a second International Symposium on Creation Research. Six lecturers from the world, including ICR's John Morris, Duane Gish, and Steven Austin spoke to audiences of several thousand. KACR members and KACR have also given lectures on creation science in prestigious seminaries. KACR intends to establish a Creation Science Education Center.
