I watch a shitload of action movies. You may have come to that conclusion based on the amount of movies that I have reviewed on this site since its inception. The one thing that I sometimes fall behind on is my television watching. There are a ton of shows out there that I still haven’t seen even though they’ve been out for months or even years. Maybe instead of re-watching Predator twice a month I should check out one of these shows….
So I have been watching the Starz Pirate show Black Sails lately. It popped up on Hulu not long ago and I was looking for something that would offer me equal amounts of killing with hot, naked action and I think I’ve found just that with Black Sails. What I didn’t expect is that the most interesting characters on the show are the same one that I’ve been looking forward to seeing naked. Life can be funny sometimes, huh?
First lets meet Hannah New as Eleanor Guthrie
She’s absolutely gorgeous and fierce as can be. Ms. Guthrie takes over the pirate island from her no-good father and immediately embarks on a scheme that could make her and all the other involved as rich as that one guy from New Kids on the Block. I’m happy to say that her position amongst the elite of the pirate haven doesn’t stop her from frequently engaging in the types of things that routinely happen in my dreams. Hannah controls most the show with her strong on-screen presence and she’s certainly got that look that really means business when the time comes.
Next up is the lovely Jessica Parker Kennedy as Max
Max is a “lady of the night” when the show starts and there is no shortage of those on an island filled with vagabonds. Max proves to be very different from the common whores on the island, though, as she gets involved in a coup of sorts and gets caught red-handed and ends up in a bad position for the majority of the first season. But she lives to show the other characters that she’s good for more than just playing the two backed beast. She’s one tough cookie.
Next is Clara Paget as the infamous Anne Bonny
You have to know that any female pirate is as tough as nails and would have to be to last any time at all with the scallions. Bonny spends the majority of the season hanging out with her man friend Rackjam. Like most of the characters on the show, she does her fair share of scheming and murdering.
Lastly, is the lovely Louise Barnes as Miranda Barlow
Her character is one that is far different from the other women on the show as she isn’t the unstoppable badass or the conniving trickster that some of the others are but she also isn’t an innocent little bird either. Mrs. Barlow is the root cause of many of the issues that the crew runs into and if she didn’t get naked a few times I just might get mad at her.
So that is my list of the hotties who filled out season 1 of Black Sails. It is a cool show that seems to be getting better the more I watch it. Give a try.
