World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items are a method to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it can increase the rarity of an item or mark Level, and also boost other stats.
Upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a set amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's stats base increases when it is upgraded. This is the sum of all its upgraded benefits (attack, magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high depending on the upgrader you choose and what kind of upgrade you decide to make. This is due to the variety of perks that need to be changed in order to upgrade an item.
Item level is a widely used measure of power, and is visible on all tooltips of items. It also serves as a gating requirement when waiting for dungeons, scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is restricted to the lower levels). Players can see their average level of item on their character sheet.
When deciding whether to purchase or sell equipment players can evaluate the levels of the item. It's a good gauge of an item's worth and how much damage it's able to deal. The level of the item can be used to compare items when evaluating a vendor's inventory.
On your PC, you can see the level of the item by pressing ALT or using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the full item description, including its level. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel in chat.
There are several theories about the method by which the level of an item is calculated. One theory states that the item level is calculated using a formula that calculates the worth of an item's stats actually are. It takes into account the fact that various perks have different value, and also that gems in sockets increase the value of the item overall. This can lead to an item's ilvl which is calculated and is often very close to Blizzard's actual item level.
This is not the only thing that affects the level of an item. The location of where the item was dropped may change its stats. For instance it can increase the item's haste or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have higher ilvl than those from lower-level instances.
Item Stats
The stats of an item are a major element in what determines the value of an item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in different ways to encourage players to play with a variety of weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the best." The base stats on a weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modifications which are then enhanced by the player's level.
Upgrades to the item add by increasing certain stats on the item. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. An item that is white or grey for instance, can only be upgraded one time, while an item that has rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times at higher costs.
Affixes are a different method to change an item's stats. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and they come in all sizes and shapes. Affixes are used to provide items with extra damage or other special capabilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs), or to differentiate them by putting a name on them.
Presently, all affixes are able to be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button with circling arrows. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold and items which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other options for rerolling.
Players can choose to upgrade an item to a specific stat, or reroll affixes. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However, all items will contain at least one stat within the same range, unless it's an exclusive item, or a God Roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that could change is the option to upgrade equipment without having to roll the attaches, or select which stats to boost. However, as with the base equipment, this would need to be performed on a per-item basis and the interface for comparing items wouldn't show all possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.
Item Luck
A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the odds of item discoveries as well as the properties that appear on loot drops and the intensity of the properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game and is thus more useful in the early game than in later ones, as most players prioritize greater weapon scaling and defense over the raw damage gain.
In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chances of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chances, which increase with each item level. It is also possible to be increased by using anti-materials like a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Weapons, armor, and shields can spawn or be crafted using the Luck property, which has a default value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on the type of material) for a further +40 luck or to boost an item's existing Luck up to 140.
Certain items, such as the Hollow-infused weapon can also be crafted to increase the damage of any skill that is able to deal damage by 5percent. item upgrader Cases gg can be found in the shop or created by using the appropriate ingredients.
Item Failure
Item upgrades are expensive and not all upgrades will succeed. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to increase their chance of success or stop themselves from losing an item if the upgrade fails.
When you upgrade an item, the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of successfully upgrading the item, and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to how much the success rates can be improved and the probability of an upgrade failing cannot exceed 100%..
The luck of an item may influence the success of an upgrade. Each item has an average success rate of 25% and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by an additional five percent.
The upgrade overlays for items are rendered above the items in the inventory. This can cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
