The Miracle Stag

The Miracle Stag

Thousands of years ago, in the East, lived a noble emperor, Nimrod. He loved hunting, roaming the wild, fishing the rivers. His two oldest sons were Hunor and Magor, who loved their father. Nimrod taught his sons to hunt, fish and to love discovering nature and be friendly with people.

As the two sons became adults, they became more and more curious, braver and braver to endeavour to more distant lands, begin even wilder adventures.

Once Hunor asked his brother, Magor, that they go hunting to distant places they had never been before. So they left their father's home with their teams, began hunting game and birds, discovering new places, competing and pushing each other, but supporting as well.

One day a wonderful animal stepped in front of them from the woods: a magnificent white deer. It had huge antlers, majestic stance and a miraculous aura. Hunor and Magor were mesmerized by its sight, and instantly wanted to capture it. It became their ultimate goal.

The miraculous deer, however, was very smart and fast. He kept disappearing in forests, showing up in tall grass, jumping behind rocks - all the while luring Hunor and Magor to chase him farther and farther. The two brothers and their teams rode and followed the deer for days, weeks, months, never losing it from their sight. But the deer kept playing tricks on them all the time, escaping them on any terrain.

As they went on with their hunt, they followed the deer to a place, that had wonderful grasslands to feed their kettle, clear rivers to give water and fish for their people, forests to use for building. Hunor and Magor were amazed by this place so much, that they even forgot about the deer. They decided to settle in this place instead with their teams, and discover it more. Later they met with other tribes in the area, and married women from there.

In the end, they established families. Hunor's family became the ancestor of the Huns. Magor's family became the ancestor of the Magyars, in the land that is today known as Hungary.
