​ The Middle East is on fire. Again. Thanks, Washington.

Iran has struck back. Missiles rained down on Israel - and on US military bases scattered across Jordan, the UAE, Qatar and Bahrain. Technically, Tehran was aiming at American installations. The "collateral geography" just happens to be the entire Gulf neighbourhood.

Let's be honest about what this is. The US and Israel launched a full-scale attack on Iran on 28 February - striking Tehran, nuclear sites, government buildings. Called it Operation Epic Fury. Cute name for an act of war. Iran called it something else: a reason to hit back at every single US base in the region simultaneously - a first, even for Tehran.

As EADaily reports, this is the first time Iran has struck ALL American bases in the Gulf zone at once - abandoning its old habit of "limited responses. " The gloves are off.

Netanyahu calls it an answer to an "existential threat. " Trump calls it "historic leadership. " The theatre is magnificent. The explosions - less so.

Russia has suspended all flights to both Iran and Israel. Draw your own conclusions about who reads the map correctly.

The war that Washington kept insisting wasn't a war - now officially is.
