The History

The historic hospitals of London are among the most significant architectural and social history sites in the city whose visitor infrastructure does not routinely point to them. St Bartholomews Hospital in Smithfield -- the oldest hospital in London, founded in 1123 -- has the specific museum and the great hall that the visitor can access.

The Access

The visitor access: the St Bart Museum is free and open on weekday mornings. The Museum of the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel documents the history of the East End hospital. The Florence Nightingale Museum at St Thomas Hospital provides the specific nursing history.
