The emerging brand will round out the show with their resort wear & swimwear fashions for The FW|BK for the Spring/Summer 2019 show; a leading fashion event showcasing designers from across the globe in Brooklyn, NY.
Nager By Nic Hyl, the resort & swimwear brand by Nic Hyl, a New York based designer who has trained under names like Norma Kamali and Ralph Lauren, will debut her designs at Fashion Week Brooklyn on October 12th, 2018 at Brooklyn Borough Hall.
Nager By Nic Hyl (Pronounced na-jay, French for “to swim”), creates pieces that are beautifully made and fuse fashion with lifestyle. Ensuring that no woman’s style ends once she gets to the beach or pool. The brand is known for their fit and makes clothes for women with various body types.
While the brand is in the process of a wholesale overhaul and looking for stores to sell their product in both domestically and internationally, you can purchase their wears on their website and a few select pieces on Essence Magazine’s new e-commerce site, Marche’. “We just want to make women feel beautiful. If we’ve done that, then we’ve done our job,” says founder/Creative Director and CEO, Nic Hyl.

The brand likens themselves to a lifestyle brand, fusing wearability off the beach with function and fit, the brand is quickly carving out a niche for themselves within a booming category of women’s fashion clothing. Stella McCartney launches her first complete swim collection combining the designer’s naturally feminine, naturally confident and modern design sensibility without compromising on functionality and fit. The new swim styles reflect Stella’s signature silhouettes and colour palette, along with prints and details from her readyto-wear collection.
“This collection is really inspired by all types of women and I want this swimwear collection to encourage women to feel confident, comfortable and incredible about themselves and in what they are wearing.”
Designed for and inspired by women, the swim range includes 7 stories, each evoking a sense of self-expression through styles that have been carefully crafted using the latest technology, resulting in a beautiful, supportive and empowering collection. Wistful, nostalgic crochet pieces collide with sporty, stripe-adorned looks. Neoprene is bonded with mesh while citrus and animal prints are embellished with gold charms and trinkets. Timeless cover ups in light cottons and chambray sit alongside all-in-ones and jersey skirts. A diverse colour palette of powder, royal blue, dahlia, yellow, navy and black and wide range of silhouettes encourage a mix-and-match approach across instantly iconic pieces.
In addition to bikinis and one pieces, the collection also includes swim apparel and accessories, such as rashguards in long and cropped versions, as well as sustainable beach totes made in Kenya.
The Stella McCartney Swim Collection is a new category in addition to the brand’s existing long term partnership with Bendon, one of the world’s leading intimate apparel companies that also manufactures and distributes the Stella McCartney Lingerie Collection.
The price range for the collection is $115 to $180 for a bikini top, $80 to $155 for a bikini bottom, $180 to $324 for a one piece and $165 to $295 for a cover up The collection is available from July 2016 in Stella McCartney boutiques and online at stellamccartney.com.
Additionally the collection will be stocked at select department and specialty stores including Harvey Nichols, Harrods, Selfridges and Matches in the UK, Saks Fifth Avenue in the US, David Jones and Myer in Australia as well as Net-aPorter and MyTheresa.

Curvy Kate caters to large cup women from D all the way up to K-cups; yet keeps the lingerie collection extremely young and feminine.
Columbian swimwear label almaMia just released their promo video for the brand new Summer 2015 collection. The very playful swimwear line clearly draws from South-African sentiments; and Gabriela Salles looks beautiful showing off the pieces.
I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get any of these pieces here in Europe – but for sure I’ll be keeping my eyes open for them!

TLP favorite Secrets In Lace has just released their new Holiday Collection, and it is stunning! The very first thing I noticed is the rich jewel tones: deep red, festive green, warm gold, and an icy silver. These fresh, modern shades are found on the nostalgic styles of circle stitch bullet bras, silky full slips, camisoles, tap pants, thongs, briefs, garter belts , waist cinchers, and even matching portrait collar tops.
With all these colors and styles, I imagine it would be easy to pick just a few pieces and be able to mix and match for a lot of different looks. The most beautiful lingerie and swimwear in the world...
We mentioned De Montfort University Students’ Designs on the Catwalk last week – and I promised to try and get some photos of the event for you. Well, thanks to one of the young designers, Carli Wheatcroft, we now have them!
Final year students from De Montfort University (DMU) agreed to help a catwalk show at Walkers Stadium on earlier this week on June 8th in a bid to boost independent business in Leicester.
Six students from DMU’s unique intimate apparel degree courses have agreed to lend their final collections – designed and created as part of their study – for the fashion show.
The event was being run by Katherine Ellis, who runs Cookie West lingerie and swimwear shop in the city’s Loseby Lane, who herself graduated DMU’s Contour Fashion degree in 2004.
Katherine said: “It’s been really tough for small businesses recently and this is great opportunity to raise profile of independent retailers and celebrate our success.”
“At the show we’ll have handmade jewellery by Clare Mason, children’s wear from Clafoutis, menswear from Casino, boyswear from Well Gosh and women’s wear from Polly’s, so we represent a really wide spectrum of styles and price.”
Carli Wheatcroft who graduates DMU’s Contour Fashion degree next monthshowed her Alice in Wonderland collection.
Four fellow students on the same degree who also lended their collections for the show are:
Kelly Ann Garforth, is graduating DMU’s sister degree course, Fashion and Contour Design, and showed her collection called Egyptians.

De Montfort University offers one of the only University level lingerie courses available. The Contour programme graduates potential designers of tomorrow. Here are some details of the programme.

Fashion and Contour Design – BA Honours Programme
What is expected of the enrolling students?
How is the teaching of the programme handled?

The teaching of the course includes formal lectures, group seminars, tutorials, presentations, practical workshops and studio-based activities. Assessment generally occurs at the end of each term with informal critiques held at appropriate times throughout the year.
The short courses are usually 2-4 days long.
