The Last of Us: Part 2

The Last of Us was an extremely violent game. If the trailers for The Last of Us Part 2 are anything to go by, the sequel is grabbing onto that violence like it’s the flapping end of an intestine before pulling it out and spooling it all over the floor.
What there wasn’t in the first game was sex. Joel was far too busy babysitting a kid and stroking giraffes to find any romance, after all.
The reveal of The Last of Us Part 2 showed the sequel’s hand early on, however. Even during our hands-on last year , it was easy to see that a blossoming romance between protagonist Ellie and fellow survivor Dina was a focus.
According to the game’s official website , classifications board the ESRB hit the game with an M rating for “"blood and gore, intense violence, nudity, sexual content, strong language [and] use of drugs."
Naughty Dog is known for its tasteful and human stories, and it seems one goal is covering romantic relationships this time around. What happens when that love is torn apart and how will Ellie react to that loss? Could Naughty Dog finally break the video game curse of cringey physical affection? Let’s hope so.
We’ll find out when The Last of Us Part 2 releases on May 29.

Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II will include nudity and sexual content according to the ESRB rating, making it the first time the studio has approached this kind of thing explicitly in its games. There have been flirtatious moments in the Uncharted series but nothing that would have been deemed especially explicit.
As one would expect from The Last of Us Part II there will also be intense violence, blood and gore, strong language, and drug use. How the nudity and sexual content will be depicted remains under wraps for now. It could be they are positive moments between people who love each other in a bleak world. From previous trailers, it has shown Ellie was in love, and it seems that whatever has transpired has led to her going on a path of revenge.
The other day YouTuber Bearly Regal demade The Last of Us Part II and depicted what the game would be like had it been released on the PS1. A couple of weeks back there was a job listing posted by Naughty Dog that began speculation a PC port of the PlayStation exclusive is being worked on, but nothing has come of that so far. If it is going to happen then an announcement likely would not occur until after the PS4 release or just before the game drops. A couple of days back an artbook called The Art of The Last of Us Part II Deluxe Edition which will 200 pages of artwork and developer comments. It is being priced at $89.99 and will be released on June 17th, three weeks after the release of the game.
The Last of Us Part II was delayed from its February release date and will now be released on May 29th.

The sequel to The Last Of Us will be the first Naughty Dog game to earn its 18-rating for anything other than violence and swearing.
Like most things to do with Sony at the moment, we don’t really know much about The Last of Us Part 2 yet – beyond the fact that it’s out on 29 May.
It was announced back in 2016 and yet relatively little has been seen of it in all these years, although it immediately made headlines for its first trailer being unusually violent .
Whether Naughty Dog has adjusted their approach since that outcry is unclear, but according to the game’s age rating information in the US it will also feature nudity and sexual content.
What the famously puritanical ESRB counts as a nudity and sexual content is difficult to say, but if there’s one thing the trailers have made clear it’s that Ellie has a new girlfriend.
The ESRB rating is Mature/17+, the same as for the first game and roughly equivalent to an 18 in the UK.
As noticed by DualShockers , The Last Of Us Part 2 is specifically described as having ‘Sexual Content’ as opposed to the tamer ‘Sexual Themes’ of the first game. The ESRB rating on the official website also reveals the sequel contains Nudity, Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language, and Use of Drugs.
Sexual Themes are classified as mere ‘references to sex or sexuality’ whereas Sexual Content means ‘non-explicit depictions of sexual behaviour, possibly including partial nudity’.

There’s no chance that The Last Of Us Part 2 will have anything explicit as that would require an Adults Only rating, which almost no game gets as most American retailers refuse to stock anything with that rating – for fear of a backlash from prudish parents.
An Adult Only rating is what Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was threatened with back during the Hot Coffee controversy and is why games in general have no real sexual content, as everything is calibrated to America’s standards.
The good news from all this is that if The Last Of Us Part 2’s already been rated than that hopefully means it won’t be delayed again, although it remains to be seen if rumours of it also being released on PC are true.
